Michael Savage: The Enemy Within (One of The Biggest Threats to Conservatives)
Self | 4/4/07 | Self

Posted on 04/04/2007 5:58:38 AM PDT by NYC Republican

To those that don't know Savage or listen to him, he claims to be an "independent conservative"... He surely does espouse some conservative views, but the vile he spews towards Bush, his cabinet, and other Republicans and GOPers could be mistaken for Air America trash.

It would be easy to blow him off as another looney blow-hard, but he's the 3rd most listened-to talk show host in the nation... He has over 8 million listeners, and in calling himself a conservative, he DOES have some real influence there. He's supposed to be on our side, but shifts positions so often, he's become a joke. He embodies every lefty criticism of our side.

In listening to parts of his show last night, he has the following things to say, in a short time span...

* Syria isn't nearly as bad as Iran, they can be spoken to, they don't threaten Israel, they are nationalists not fundamentalists

* The war was started to benefit Oil companies.

* Blasted Bush to no end, said Rice should have been fired a long time ago, blasted the rest of the cabinet

* Said it was OK for Pelosi to go talk to Syria

* Asked why is there a division between GOP and Dems, why do we automatically assume everything they do should be hated, etc.

In my view, this scum is far more dangerous than Air America and nearly every lib out there. He's pretending to be a conservative, yet does more damage to our causes than any other non-politician I can think of, because he has the influence to sway people.

This guy is an utter disgrace and a phony.

He’s a certifiable madman and I cannot stand to listen to him anymore. His ego surpasses that of any radio personality and his daily self-promotion is disgusting.

BTW, why do you make your rather weak case against Mike and then end it by calling him “scum?”

Yes, I stop people who tell me what to do. Next thing you know, you liberals in disguise will start talking about the fairness doctrine.

Of course, it applies both ways. If you don't like what he wrote, move on to another post and "stop telling people what to do."

Weak case? That’s just YESTERDAY... You know I have so much more ammo on this guy, including supporting Moonbeam in the CA election, but I won’t go there.

I really do not listen to him much, but from a conservative standpoint, Bush and a good number of GOPers richly deserve some criticism. Sucking up to the current GOP leadership is NOT a measure of one’s conservative credentials.

He’s supposed to be on our side, but shifts positions so often, he’s become a joke. He embodies every lefty criticism of our side.

I am not so clear what is meant by “OUR” side. Like I said in the previous post, conservatives should be critical of the Bush administration and much of the current GOP leadership.

* Syria isn’t nearly as bad as Iran, they can be spoken to, they don’t threaten Israel, they are nationalists not fundamentalists"

He is right here except the part about Syria not threatening Israel.

Savage rallies to Pelosi's side, Larry Elder attacks Ramos and Campion (sp?), and Hugh Hewitt attacks Tancredo for the McCain/Kennedy Immigration Bill and the GOP loss of Congress.

I think it's time to purchase a few more audiobooks because SportsTalk is filled with silly adolescents and ghetto-talking guests.

Hey! I could make a case against Savage using your logic, but since I’m a fan and you’re not: that’s where the rubber meets the road.

I know, it’s a bad analogy but I gotta run.

Congrats on what looks like the most popular thread of the morning.

I didn’t even notice a thread on the Brit soldiers being freed.

You may have it right. The more I’ve listened to him and I catch him every night for at least 20 minutes the more I see some sort of act.

The act comes out when religion topics come up and he does the “God thing” then he’s talking about his drinking habits the next night.

Savage reminds me of that crazy preacher who’s dead and gone with his videotapes still playing today and his audio being heard on the shortwave radio. (Rev. Gene Scott)

Mr. Weiner (his real name) is a liberal (supported Jerry Brown, for example) who pretends to be conservative.

His goals are:

(1) to make himself rich by defrauding suckers (margin gold sales by his affilliates to moronic listeners being his big money maker);

(2) to harm the real conservative cause by discrediting it (by being an obvious idiot); and

(3) to harm the real conservative cause by promoting faux-conservative/populists talking points generated by the DNC (the ports deal being but one example of the poison he spread).

“Bush started out as a conservative (taxes and fiscal issues, SC judges, etc), but became too engrossed in trying to “change the tone” and appease the other side... and NOT fight back at outrageous, scurrilous charges.”

Bush started out as a “big government conservative” as early as the GOP primary campaign in 1999. He has NEVER been a conservative on the issue of spending and the role of the federal government.

he was claiming that Rush and Hannity's ratings are falling becuase of him...Has he checked a ratings report lately? Their ratings are rising.

And that fact eats at him to no end. Ever hear Rush, Hannity, Levin, or any other conservative radio talkshow host (with the possible exception of O'Reilly) talk about Savage? Nope -- he's just not on their radar. ....nor should he be. But Savage incessantly and obsessively rails like an adolescent about his competition ("Hush Bimbo...."Pawn Vanity"). .....that is, when he's not talking about his qualifications as a "trained scientist" (B.A. in Sociology, Ph.D. in "Nutritional Ethnomedicine").

“Said it was OK for Pelosi to go talk to Syria”

Here is a legitimate criticism. Pelosi had no business going to Syria.

Actually, Levin does mention him, and often. Usually because Savage lies about beating Levin in the ratings in NY (never has, not even a single quarter, head-to-head), and blasts Levin for sounding like an old lady, etc... So, he’s justified in fighting back
