The 'queen of nice' goes nuts
LA Times ^ | 4-3-07 | JONAH GOLDBERG

Posted on 04/03/2007 5:13:01 AM PDT by veronica

Rosie O'Donnell's wacky 9/11 conspiracy theories should get her kicked off 'The View.'

RENOWNED metallurgist Rosie O'Donnell proclaimed on TV on Thursday that Sept. 11, 2001, was a more significant date than most of us realized. It was, in her words, "the first time in history that fire has ever melted steel."

This, of course, came as news to steelworkers, blacksmiths, firefighters, manufacturers of samurai swords and other fools who hadn't realized that steel is forged in magic furnaces using dragon breath and pixie dust.

O'Donnell made this and other profoundly stupid comments on the daytime talk show "The View," ABC's update of the ancient practice of women chattering around the village well.

The former "queen of nice" seems to think that the show is the perfect venue to audition as grand marshal for the next tinfoil hat parade. And if you visit O'Donnell's website (www.rosie.com), you'll find her application's supporting materials: all sorts of unadulterated moonbattery presented in the Esperanto of global derangement — a form of instant-message-style free verse. For example, she writes about the British sailors held prisoner in Iran:

the british did it on purpose

into iranian waters

as

US MILITARY BUILD UP ON

THE IRANIAN BORDER

we will be in iran

before summer

as planned

come on people

u have 2 c

i know u can

You may be unfamiliar with such psych-ward stylings, but I get e-mail written like this all the time. Perhaps if you believe the jackbooted thugs are at your door, it's reasonable to think you don't have time to spell out your words.

The sears commercial was about their sale on Craftsmen tools.

I suspect Rosie O'Donut has a number of Craftsman tools in her closet, if you know what I mean ;)

Some hag correspondent on WABC radio news this morning suggesting some reporter in Britain is saying the capture of the Brits was engineered by the USA as a ‘Gulf of Tonkin’ incident to get into a war with Iran.

Is everyone at ABC smoking crack?

“She ignores that WT7 was hit by debri from the plane crash and gouged out a large portion of the building -compromising the structural support.”

Exactly. According to one expert-WT7 was hit by debris(concrete) with the force of a volcanic eruption. Destroyed nearly 25% of the building. A lower corner at that. Wish I had the picture. It’s amazing the building held up as long as it did.

I think I read that the diesel fuel was stored there because of Mayor Guiliani, something to do with the anti-terrorism headquarters being located there? I’m not sure of the details, but I know he has gotten some flack for locating it there after the WTC bombing in 1993.

ok...makes sense.

Alot more sense then thinking “someone” planted it there waiting for 2 planes to crash into nearby buildings and time it just right to make it “look” like a collapse.

hmmm...which would really mean that “someone” hired those alleged “terrorists” to crash the planes - because really - even crazy people have to admit it’s not a good plan to just wait and hope for a plane crash - no less TWO plane crashes.

So you CLAIM it’s fuel for the complex huh?

yeah, likely story. :)

I thought I read somewhere that if asbestos would have been sprayed on the trusses, the buildings would not have collapsed.

Asbestos fireproofing was used on the lower floors of the Towers, with other types on the upper floors, as the regulations changed during construction.

It is hotly (!) debated among engineers whether the buildings might have stood longer if the upper floors had also been fireproofed with asbestos. It is generally agreed that asbestos fireproofing is more shock and impact resistant than other types.

It is doubtful that using asbestos would have prevented the collapse. However, it might have delayed it, allowing some unknown number of people to reach safety.

Knock down that one allegation and there are 50 more to take its place. The real purpose is to sow distrust of the system and the powers that be, and most especially of logic and replace it with emotion. Donald Trump said Rosie is a bully, and that is correct. She shouts to overpower your reason and decorum with her emotion.

“I really dont think this woman even went to highschool.”

She’s stupid. I mean really. People call her names on here and it’s funny but the fact is she’s just dumb as a box of hammers.

“Gulf of Tonkin. Google it.”

Uhh, Rosie, educated people don’t have to “Google it”.

They probably would have sued for being exposed to asbestos. Thanks peter angelos.

Here is something I found about the diesel fuel elsewhere on the internet - Little big brother

Never was there a more fragile legend than the daring deeds of Sir Rudy. I was living downtown on September 11, and watched the World Trade Centre when it was hit by those pretty convincing holograms (well done George Monbiot).

While reporting by phone from my fire escape to radio stations, I heard on a local station that Giuliani was looking for an emergency headquarters. I almost telephoned to tell him where it was. It was on the 23rd storey of No 7 World Trade Centre. And the Mayor had spent no less than $16m building "the Bunker" in the face of strong contrary advice.

Apart from the sheer stubborn silliness, there was the typically Rudyesque detail that the Bunker was on a twenty year lease paying $1.4m annual rent to one of his major campaign contributors. His own city's fire regulations wisely forbade putting a 6,000 gallon tank of diesel fuel in the building to keep generators running. So he declared it to be part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and had it installed regardless.

On September 11, when No 7 caught fire as a result of blazing debris from the WTC itself, the diesel caught fire, and helped melt the retaining girders so the building collapsed onto the Con Edison electricity substation in the basement. The resulting floods from fire hoses trying to put out the blaze knocked out downtown Manhattan's telephones after water reached the neighboring Verizon station.

The sears commercial was about their sale on Craftsmen tools. Maybe they think we’re shopping for father’s day already?

I think given Rosie's proclivities, Sears was aiming at the "Butch" lesbian demographic.
