DUBLIN, Calif. (AP)-KITT, the flame-throwing, river-jumping, talking muscle car from the '80s TV show "Knight Rider," is up for sale. Restored to its debut-season glory, the modified black 1982 Pontiac Trans Am is offered at $149,995 at a Dublin auto dealership. Johnny "Vette" Verhoek of Kassabian Motors has had the car, officially called Knight Industries Two Thousand, on display for about a month.

Can I put it on layaway?
There were no muscle cars in thwe 80s, certainly not Trans Ams
Hoff ping.
What defines a muscle car?
Better car to bid on... 1977 Trans Am from "Smokey and the Bandit."
Only if it comes with William Daniel’s voice and dry wit, as well as decades for installment payments.

Old Detroit Iron from the late 60’s to early 70’s. Like my 69 Pontiac Lemans!
It seems like there’s more to it than that. To me a muscle car is just an American 2 door that produces way more horsepower than any sane person could use. The Grand Nationals of the mid 80’s would qualify to me as muscle cars.
BTW, I’ve got a ‘70 Cougar with a 351 Cleveland. My first car was a ‘67 Le Mans. I wish I still had it.
The 5.0 Ford Mustangs came close.
I thought of those too, but most people consider pony cars seperately. I think Trans Am’s would probably be in the same category as Camaros and Mustangs.
Is that a Hemi? Sweeeet!
426 HemiCuda!
Pony car: mustang, camero, trans am, cuda, challenger, amx, javelin, and that’s it. All of the pony cars ever produced in the entire world right there in that short list. If you really wanted to stretch the definition, you might be able to include a Studebaker...i forget the model, but it was kinda sporty like the first mustang. And also the Avanti. But neither of these two autos ever had a professional racing history. So that really kinda disqualifies them.
A pony car is between a muscle car and a sports car. It’s very name comes from the mustang because the mustang was the very first one. The first mustangs had a large chrome horse on the grill.
Possibly the Buick Grand National.
KITT was a wimp. Give me KARR:

Ah yes, I recall KARR.
Bonneville?? I learned to drive on my dad’s ‘66 Bonneville with a 389 cid V8. It was a great car, but certainly no muscle car. I sure miss the huge air vents down in the footwells. Open those babies at 70 mph on a summer day and you didn’t need AC. They nearly blew you off the front seat.
