Salmonella can potentially be transferred to people handling these pet treats, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.

Good grief. That's a completely different reason for the recall. Since we've had to accept food that does not have inspections and is therefore out of reach of the FDA, our food chain and that of our pets have become deadly. Our pets have died and people have died eating bad food from other countries. Like Mexico!!

I'm very angry at the globalists in our government for putting us all in harms way because of their greed! I only hope that those responsible and their families are the next ones to get sick. Maybe then they will stop the importation of foods from other countries who are poisoning us.

I know it sounds crazy but what I want to know is why no one in any other countries keeps getting sick and dying from this tainted food? I haven't heard of it if there have been other countries affected. It's almost as if someone is purposely trying to kill us.

Feel free to share them with anyone who will read them (and some who may not). If we can save even one dog it's worth the effort.

I've put my dogs on a chicken, carrot and rice diet.

Mrs. randog makes a simple dog food from cooked rice and chicken broth. The dogs (mini dachshunds) love the stuff.

Sorry it took me a while to reply had to go work out. We feed him ground turkey and rice for years, later adding egg and bread per the vet. It really helped his stomach and he lived for almost 15 years until he finally died of kidney failure.

I’ll do it again if I have too. More time consumming but cheaper.

We’re going to quit giving him the dingos and see how he does. He seems to be a little better this evening.

I agree with this. I think it a test run just to see if they could. Muslims consider dogs and cats 'unclean', and want them destroyed.

It may also be that they want to get back at Americans, who they know are pet lovers.

If they can blithely kill children, or use them as pawns, why not animals?

I know I have an active imagination, but I really am starting to wonder.

Thanks for your reply. Ground turkey sounds like a good idea, leaner than hamburger.

Glad to hear your dog’s feeling a little better. :)

This falls under the category of: Um, DUH !!

People, people, people: If YOU eat something that makes you sick, do you keep eating it??? Why do people see their pets get sick off specific foods but keep feeding it to them anyway??? On another message board, a woman posted the same thing - dog “always gets sick when I give him this treat” but she “keeps checking the internet to see if it’s on the recall list.” !!! She needs some official notification to tell her that her dog is sick when she can SEE that he’s sick??

Stop feeding the food or treat that makes your pets sick and get them to the Vet ASAP.

THOUSANDS of pets have died from the Menu Foods (and related) recalls. This is not the time to wait and see if a pet shows symptoms after eating - EVEN IF IT’S A FOOD THAT IS NOT (YET) ON A RECALL LIST.

Looks like you’ve been reading the same couple of sites as I have this weekend.

Lots of good info in this thread:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1809829/posts

I found out the other day I was feeding my dogs a food on the recall list, so I started making my own. I cooked up a big batch and froze it in freezer bags.

The dogs love it, and I know what’s in it. Also, I was mixing hard commercial food with a can of Alpo. The Alpo was costing about 59 cents a can, and we figured out this costs about 20 cents a feeding. I do think I am feeding too much, so I am cutting down portions.

I bought some chicken leg quarters on sale and mixed it with rice, a couple cans of mixed vegetables, the chicken broth. I cooked mine, took the bones out. However, I am considering going to the BARF diet after reading that thread.

Thanks for the Ping! I’ve been checking our pet foods with each new announcement and so far, so good. No bad wet or dry food and no pet problems.

Murphy, Rufus, Tess & Tilly say, “Thanks for thinking of us!” :)

Been wondering where you were. Bet you are getting that garden ready. I planted 15 tomato plants today and have peas, lettuce, radishes, onions, and asparagus up, and beans planted.Plus, lots of young flowers sprouted, and tulips, daffodils have bloomed and are fading.

Now we hear it may frost here late this week. Ugh, I always get too excited and plant too soon.

Glad your pets are okay. Mine are enjoying the homemade dog food I’m now making them. They were fed Alpo mixed with Purina dry food before I found out they were on the recall list. But so far they are okay.

You can’t go wrong with feeding them rice, steamed veggies and meat...which is pretty much the basics of any pet food. They also like cheese but serve in moderation, LOL!

I started my new job four weeks ago. I’m the Perennial Manager for Jung’s. I’ll Freepmail you to catch up and not bore everyone else. :)

My garden is going to be really poor this season unless DH steps up to the plate. I’m WEEKS behind you, weather-wise...possible snow here on Wednesday. Grrrrrrr!

WHERE IS THE MEDIA!

This is a huge story that is mentioned in passing but is not getting the attention it deserves. I heard some website has an unofficial tally of cats and dogs that have died and it’s around 27OO deaths, NOT 16 like Menu Foods says. BTW, what is the name of the company in China that contaminated the wheat gluten?
Do they supply wheat gluten for human food too?
