We need to take '06 and flip it right back in the Dems face. As here in Iowa they persuaded everyone to give George Bush the middle finger and vote Democrat right down to the local level. With their new found power they've turned right around and voted a liberal Democrat agenda. We need to seize on their record and parade it high and low in '08.

"The GOP brand is in trouble in Ohio."

That is a fact and I don't see an answer. The only thing I hope is that Ohioans observe the Democratic Majority in Congress and go back to the GOP.

Republicans are in trouble NATION WIDE and the reason is because no one on our side is willing to fight. Our leaders are too busy apologizing. Nothing makes our side buckle like Cindy Sheehan with a mic or a group of disorganized Code Pinkos.

i'd call narrow, new mexico, with 5000 votes (or close to that, or one of the other states with small margins)

they're trying to rewrite history again

I think you can thank the National Republican Party and it's performance the last 6 years.

It's really hard to determine the differences between parties now. Both are for bigger government and vastly larger spending, and less personal freedom all while playing grab ass in DC. Then there was the embarrassing grab for cash in the Pennsylvania Legislator.

Sadly, I think the only thing that will straighten the mess out is a strong third party; maybe the Constitutional Party?

As long as gasoline is 3+ a gallon, the Pubs are going to get hammered. That is the number one real issue for the average Joe, who pays attention to politics about as much as I pay attention to Rosie O'dious.

Democrats? Why would voters support the party that has been openly advocating military defeat and economic failure?

The people spoke in Novemeber of '06. The majority of the 40% voter turnout barely voted for Democrats. 22% of the registered voters cast their votes for Democrats, the people have spoken!

Let's put up the good fight people, turn the lights on the cockroaches.

Could it be because the spineless twits that lead the Republican party are afraid to fight with the morons on the left? Could it be that the Repubs have become the "tax and spend" party? Could it be due to the continuation of excessive government intrusion into private decisions despite holding the house, senate, and presidency? Could it be due to Ohio's previous governor being a RINO?

Scandals were the main reason that Republicans lost this past fall. There was a coin scandal that involved Taft and a couple of other members of his administration and there were at least 2 Republican Congressmen who were involved in corruption scandals of their own. Republican "corruption" became an easy target for the Democrats, who handily turned the Republicans out of the governor's mansion and who also took back a seat in the U.S. Senate and several seats in the House.

While Governor Ted Strickland currently has high approval numbers, he has only been in office a few months and has not done anything yet, good or bad.

A lot can change before the fall of next year, I would't write off Ohio yet.

Never fear. Wait till all the Ohio geniuses show up and tell us that it's already over in Ohio and the GOP wins. (Problem is, these will be the same geniuses who said that Blackwell was going to win big and easy. "Don't listen to the leftist polls" blah blah blah). Many of us pointed out months in advance that Blackwell was going to get smoked and all the geniuses went ballistic. Turns out the geniuses were...well...insert whatever word you think fits best.

Yes, we have an Ohio problem. If we have an Ohio problem, that means we have an electoral college problem, even if we are winning the national polls. The D's have a BIG advantage in this regard. All they have to do is flip Ohio and they win. And Ohio voters despise the GOP.

Ohio has become quick sand for conservatives. While Republicans held the majority in government here in Ohio for the most part of a decade, they allowed this state to rise to the top 5 list in tax burden. When the base screamed for conservative candidates form the state Republican party, they were ignored. The US Republican senatorial committee as much as gave the conservative voters here the finger when we asked to replace the RINO. By base, I am not talking about religious zealots, I'm talking about normal people who work their arse off every day to get ahead and are tired of the gummint confiscating half. Republican voters are demoralized and it is the fault of the GOP.

The problem in Ohio was named TAFT. I don't know why everyone is busy bashing Giuliani, because he has nothing to do with the Republican meltdown in Ohio.

The first thing that needs to be done is to rebuilt the Republican organization in Ohio after Taft dumped all over it. There's a real stench there that needs to be cleaned up.

Not surprising, at all. In Cleveland almost everyone that I know is a liberal Demo-rat. Grr, and we’re probably a swing-vote for ‘08.
