Car accidents are the top killer of Hispanics in North Carolina, and the disproportionate number of alcohol-related arrests and wrecks are an embarrassment to a minority already beleaguered by hard feelings over illegal immigration.Translation:
1. We should be upset about this only because Hispanics are being killed. Who cares about blacks, whites, Asians, or anybody else?
2. Hispanics are a beleaguered minority! Therefore, it would be mean to criticize them for driving drunk.

It's a good bet the guy was illegal, because when they neglect to mention immigration status in the article, that's almost always the case.
The problem I have, that I hold Bush accountable for, are the deaths of Americans that would have been prevented if Bush actually enforced immigration laws.
Here's one in particular:
Min Chang...
North Carolina College student killed by illegal alien drunk driver Jorge Hernandez, who had been deported
17 times prior to killing Chang.
Article
That means Hernandez committed at least 16 felonies (re-entry after deportation is a felony), for which he was never prosecuted. It's Bush's policy not to enforce immigration laws, including felony re-entry. If Hernandez had been prosecuted on just one of those counts, and imprisoned as would be appropriate, it's likely he never would have been driving drunk to kill Min Chang.
Yes, I believe some (actually a lot) of Min Chang's blood is on Bush's hands, as it is on all those who believe like Bush that American deaths at the hands of illegal aliens are just the cost of having open borders and "free" trade.

It's not so much a hispanic thing as it is a rural west thing. Go to any small town between the mississippi and the rockies and you will find that drinking and driving is very common. Most mexicans I run into are basically short, dark, spanish speaking, cowboys...culturally speaking. They drink alot just like the anglo american versions do.

Look, I am not happy about illegal immigration either. I just think it is BDS to say anyone killed by drunk drivers who are illegals is "blood on Bush's hands." You still don't even know (or really seem to care to even find out) if the man in the original story is illegal or not. That's what tells me you have a dual agenda: to slam Bush and bash hispanics.
Illegals are nothing new to this country, does Ronald Reagan have blood on his hands for every crime an illegal committed under his presidency too?

There is also another common denominator most have a history of family abuse. Is that one of those south of the Rio Grande family values?

Min Chang, among thousands of others, died as a direct consequence of Bush's policies. To point this fact out is not deranged, but to ignore it is.

Why not deport anyone with a DWI?
Because, I have one. 15 yrs ago. I was lucky enough not to hurt anyone. I have made my amends with the authorities, paid my dues and I wouldn't dream of repeating the offense.
You can try to deport me if you'd like.
The ugly truth is that many, many people drive drunk at one time or another. Those that can honestly say that they haven't, congratulations and thank you. For the rest of you, take comfort that you didn't get caught. For those still doing it, lose the better-than-thou attitude, and stop yourself before it's too late.

Drive and have an accident when it is found your fault you should pay for all damages. What ever the cost may be. Drive drunk and have an accident which is found not your fault, (even though you were drunk) the other person should pay for damages, what ever the cost may be.Hold on. A guy I work with has an ex-wife from Peru. She was drunk, got into an accident, totalled his car but it was not her fault. So far she hasn't been charged and the other person was.

Summarily execute any drunk driver (.08+) upon arrest and you'll see a quick drop in DWI's.H3ll, I'd settle for a public caning, unless they hurt or killed someone, then I say do unto them as they did unto the innocent others. I speak from the receiving end of such behavior.

One flaw in Myrick's bill, requiring states to sign the North American Driver License Agreement (DLA), one of the controversial elements removed from the Real ID Act. The DLA would require states to share their databases not only with other states but also Canada and Mexico as a start.
I contacted her office during the 109th Congress and suggested the National Driver Registry/Problem Driver Pointer System (NDR/PDPS) can be used instead of the DLA. The DLA database does not yet exist, the NDR/PDPS has been in use for over 40 years.
Seems like Congress is very interested in the DLA and forcing it on all of us. It is one of the essential ingredient to the coming North American Union (Tri-National) ID Card.
After the March wreck in Johnston County, U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick, a Charlotte Republican, reintroduced a bill that would require the deportation of all immigrants convicted of drunken driving
Well, that's a start.

Hey, when they come to America, they bring along their cultural norms and we MUST RESPECT THOSE DIFFERENCES!
Legal or not, when "migrants" migrate to America, we must expect things to change. We must not "disrespect" those differences - we must embrace them!
In their former Muslim countries, Muslims beat and kill their women and children, especially their daughters for imagined slights that would gain the perps a swift "guilty" in a court of law, but now things are different, Americans must not point fingers at drunken drivers who come from countries where drunken driving is the norm nor should be so "judgmental" about Sharia Law being imposed in divorce, rape and other "immoral acts" by Muslim women.
Are you ready, "THEY'RE COMING TO AMERICA" (or in many cases, they're already here!

Illegal immigrants have no particular reason to comply with US law.
As stupid as it is, the reason a lot of American citizens don’t drive drunk is because they are afraid of being caught by the cops, not because they are afraid of sudden violent death.
An American citizen stands to lose his professional life, his life’s savings and his freedom if he is caught drunk driving. The worst that will happen to the illegal alien is that he is deported. He can walk back across our un-fenced border and be back where he started in a week.
