An Iraq war veteran has been sentenced to six months in jail for kissing a 14-year-old girl.
He could have gotten ten years in prison. A judge in Georgia yesterday decided the mandatory ten-year sentence was too harsh. He set aside Staff Sergeant Jimmy Brown's conviction for child enticement and allowed him to plead to lesser charges.
He'll still have to register as a sex offender and abide by at least 20 lifetime restrictions on residency, registration and conduct.

What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
"Its the Children" gone amuck.
Good. Keep your slimy lips off the kids, dude.
Did a jury of his peers convict him?
for kissing ? Believe it or not, at the root of it is militant feminism.
Well, he pled guilty, to a lesser charge, for one thing.
that's kind of lame if there is not more to the story.
If he had been female and a teacher.....I would like to know more. There are 14 y/os and then their are 14 y/os that act like they are 21. I question if this constitutes a sexual offender for life.
The problem I have with the sex offender registries is that there is no murder offender registries. You may be able to find out who the pedophiles in your area are, but not the murders, the thieves, etc.
The other problem I have is that once someone's sentence is done, they have paid their debt to society.
What's the sentence for kissing your own kid goodnight? UnFreakin' believeable!
Well what kind of kiss?? I need more information.
Plus the fact that he is an Iraq war vet seems unrelated to the story.
As I said before at the root of it is the notion that all males are always predators, all females are always victims. Thats the starting point.
Not to mention anti-militarism. "Look at the evil soldier, everyone! They're ALL like that!"
The other problem I have is that once someone's sentence is done, they have paid their debt to society.
The problem with sex offenders is that the reoccurance rate is so high. They need their neighbors keeping an eye on them.

A very good point. I agree though in principle with registries I just think there should be a much higher threshold to get on them. Kissing a 14 year old, or a 19 year old having sex with a 17 1/2 year old shouldn't be enough to get you on one for life.
There had better be a lot more evidence than that.
I was just going to write that but you beat me to it.
When it comes to sex releated charges men are assumed innocent until proven otherwise.
Just look at the Duke rape case.
