7060 LED SPECIFICATIONS
M7 7060 LED   In a rare collaboration between public and private sectors, the City of Los Angeles Police Department™ (LAPD) has partnered with Pelican Products to develop the Pelican 7060 LED as the standard issue tactical/patrol flashlight for all its officers.

The Pelican 7060 LED light employs new dual switch technology that allows the light to be activated by either a body-mounted patrol switch or a tail-mounted tactical switch. The dual switches, which include a momentary mode, allows the user to grip the light in several positions and still control activation. The light incorporates rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum brightness and light weight.

"The idea for the new ten-inch torch was conceived just days after news cameras broadcast images of L-A-P-D officers beating a car-theft suspect with a two-pound, two-foot long standard issue flashlight. "

I keep one of those flashlights under the front seat of my car. There's lots of crazy people on the road these days.

Jeez, they should just get Maglites. The big, hefty ones.

You can do fine with a light like this in one hand and a baton in the other. Take away someone's sight and they are toast.

This is kind of pointless now, not only is the taser much more effective, it's 100 times more fun to use.

It has a grenade grip, maybe the battery explodes if you throw it at them.

Working for the LAPD must be the only job worse than working for the border patrol.

And they'll wonder why officer-involved shootings rise.

$199 for a $5 mini-mag light. Figures. Now, if it had a flashing siren light on the other end....

LA lefties deserve what they elect, that's all I can say. It should be law that they have to stay in that state however, never be allowed to leave and screw up another.

I'm all in favor of giving the police a flashlight that can be used to both club perps, and can give off a brief, but "dazzling" bright light different from its main light.

The idea is to have a second switch connected to a strong capacitor in the flashlight, so when the officer meets up with a perp at night, he can momentarily blind him with a flash to the face. Having the perp suddenly losing their night vision can give an officer a big advantage, especially if the perp is armed.

I'd rather get bopped with a Maglight than shot.

The company I work for sells Streamlight flashlights. We used to sell a model SL-35, which was a large, hard alumimum-cased unit that, with the ni-cad battery pack, made quite a nice billy club when needed.

Unfortunately, the Police departments here did the same thing and went with the smaller, lighter flashlights.
