I step forward to assure Mr. Taylor that it is true: I was hit by the pro-war manure. Thankfully, because of its high fiber content, it fell off and left no residue.

In response to Mr. Taylor's allegation of racism and ageism in another letter-writer's description of the counter-protesters as "overwhelmingly white and older": Is it racist and ageist to say that I was profoundly sad to note that the counter-protesters looked a lot like me?

I was also saddened by the fact that the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was taken hostage for a day by people who purported to protect it.

That is what the Eagles "threw" at them and that is what is "sticking" to them and leaving its emotional and mental mark, without leaving a single physical mark or stain.
