Dear Heavenly Father, as we approach Holy Week when we remember Your suffering and death on the Cross, and Your Glorious Resurrection, we are mindful of Your great Love for us. And as, all around us, life returns in color and beauty, we thank You for Your Creation – that it was made for our enjoyment and use, and we are again thankful. We ask that as we come together at this time and in this place, that we would do so with reverence and worship, and that our words and our thoughts would glorify You and not ourselves.

Father, we bring before You our brother in Christ and our President, George W. Bush, thanking You that You have provided for us a man who knows You as Lord and Savior and who seeks to be obedient to You. We lift him up to You this day, asking You to give him strength and resolve to fight the battles that lie before him. We ask that he would listen for the promptings of Your Holy Spirit in all things, and that he would be given the discernment to tell which words of advice he receives point to the path he should take. Keep him in Your word in study and in meditation, and on bended knee in prayer. Give him love for others accompanied by the strength to fight evil, both abroad and at home. Help him to stand firm against the Congress’ betrayal of our troops, and lead with courage the war against those who would destroy us and all we hold dear.

Dear Lord, we continue to lift up our troops in harm’s way, thanking You for their bravery and their sacrificial service for the cause of freedom and for our security. Help them, Lord, to not be dismayed by the acts of a few in Congress, but help them to know that the American people do support them, even while some of our representatives do not. We thank You for the continuing victories in Iraq, and ask that we might achieve a victory there that is swift and sure, and that the fledgling democracy that is critical to our security might thrive. We pray for those who have been wounded, and thank You that their Commander in Chief cares so deeply for them. We ask that You might lay Your healing hand on each one of them and restore them to physical, mental and emotional health. We also lift up to You the families and loved ones of those who have fallen in this just and noble cause, and ask that they might be given a peace that passes all understanding during this time of deep grief.

Finally, Father, we pray for this nation, asking that You forgive us for our sins against You. We pray that the holocaust of abortion might somehow be ended. Help us to stand strong in the fight for righteousness, we pray. And dear Lord, we continue to pray for that righteous leader to continue the fight for morality and the unborn, and raise him up so that we might see Your working in, and Your mercy for this sinful nation. Lord, we pray for a fresh wind of Your Holy Spirit to work among us, cleansing and renewing us to do what is good and acceptable in Your eyes. Father, we humbly beseech You and thank You for the answers to these prayers that we know will come. In the Name of the Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world, we pray, Amen!
