Yes I did:
"Thompson was spotted lunching with Romney's strategist Alex Castellanos, who was involved with both of Fred's Senate campaigns. Groves suggests that Castellanos was courting Thompson as Romney's VP pick, though, based on name recognition and the current polls, that ticket really would be better if flipped to Thompson-Romney."

"Check, please," indeed!
Although J.C. Watts and Duncan Hunter would be my first two choices for a potential Thompson running mate, I can see where running Mitt in the veep slot would make Thompson-Romney and unstoppable ticket.

Great article.
I certainly agree that McCain is right out, but I don't much like Romney.
I suppose the VP needs to be chosen to put the ticket over the top, based on geography, etc. I don't immediately see how Romney would contribute much to that. What are the chances that he would move Massachusetts into the Republican column? And he doesn't exactly seem to be catching fire with the voters, either.
This assumes that Fred wins it all, which he may, but you still got Rudy or McCain (ugh!) who can take it. It is a interesting thought though. Mitt's got the CEO talent and Fred has the Southern vibe, great communication talent, and agile mind. That would make a fascinating combination.
