I certainly agree that McCain is right out, but I don't much like Romney.
I suppose the VP needs to be chosen to put the ticket over the top, based on geography, etc. I don't immediately see how Romney would contribute much to that. What are the chances that he would move Massachusetts into the Republican column? And he doesn't exactly seem to be catching fire with the voters, either.
Mitt gets you New Hampshire, Maine, and Michigan (his father the former governor, is still well liked there). Mitt also helps out in Nevada and Arizona.
Fred gets all the Southern states.
I had never applied much scrutiny to Romney before because frankly, he never interested me much. But after reading the article, I started doing a little research on the guv.
Romney: Will support assault weapons bill and Brady Bill
The candidate reiterated his support for an assault weapons ban contained in Congress' crime bill, and the Brady law which imposes a five-day waiting period on handgun purchases. `I don't think (the waiting period) will have a massive effect on crime but I think it will have a positive effect,' Romney said.
I'm not a one-issue guy, but RKBA is not an "issue" for me; it's a fundamental right guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
This is a major deal-breaker. I'm hoping that it doesn't happen.
