The most high-profile national conservative leader to endorse Rudy Giuliani for President so far insists that the former New York mayor's non-conservative stands on social issues such as abortion won't derail his candidacy in the Republican nomination process next year.
"I've met with several social conservatives and they are leaning strongly to Rudy," said Steve Forbes, publisher and two-time GOP presidential hopeful, who has just come out for Giuliani for President. Although he said he couldn't give the names of most of those he has talked to who are poised to join the Giuliani bandwagon, Forbes did cite Joel Rosenberg -- evangelical Christian, best-selling novelist, and a veteran of past Forbes campaigns -- who was prepared to join Giuliani's campaign team. In Forbes' words, "He thinks Rudy's the real deal, as do at least two others I'm talking to. Giuliani will have a [conservative] team in formation."
Speaking to relatives and friends around the country...they feel the same way. There was never even a consideration on our part to vote for the man.
I believe there are millions and millions who feel the same. but that is just my own opinion.
So am I.
If Republicans can't do better than an anti-gun, pro abortion, open borders, appointer of liberal judges, they deserve to lose.
Exactly!
Speak for yourself, sell-out...
It looks like conservative Republicans are willing to give Rudy a pass on his less than strict conservative social politics
A lot of social conservatives would give someone a pass on less than strict conservative social politics. The problem whit Rudy is that he's way left of that.
""I've met with several social conservatives and they are leaning strongly to Rudy," said Steve Forbes"
Muzza been New Yorkers.
Sorry, Steve, your open borders candidate ain't gonna make it.
Hi Jeff, it's my opinion as well. None of my personal friends will vote for him.
That's a good strategy for the national election, not the primaries. Let's see if we can't find a conservative before we fold.
Speak for yourself, sell-out...
Thank you, Duncan Whathisname supporter!
"less than strict conservative social politics"
Are you sh!tting me!?
At least be honest about it.
Not me. Who the hell is Steve Forbes, and who cares. I don't. I do not have a lot of bucks like Steve, so Strew him. Since when does a nitwit who inherited his bucks speak for anyone else?
How totally funny.
"Who the hell is Steve Forbes"
Isn't he the guy who was not almost president a few times?
Welcome to my world! The "I`m going to hold my breath till you turn blue" crowd just called you a sell out. I`d call you an adult.
Thanks. I'm a pragmatic Republican who understands how important it is that we win this next election.
I know he was a wannabee and people said " who the hell is Steve Forbes"? I still say it. Who the hell is Steve Forbes? Is he Malcolms 4 eyed inheritor?
>>>If Republicans can't do better than an anti-gun, pro abortion, open borders, appointer of liberal judges, they deserve to lose.<<<
So, you think 4 or 8 years of Hillary would be better than Rudy?
I kinda like Steve, but his city-boy self would not know a real conservative country-ass cracker if one spit some chaw on his $800 shoes. How the hell does he presume to speak for us?
I am a conservative gun-owner who believes that principles, like the Constitution of the United States, comes first.
Neville Chamberlain was called a pragmatist as well. There are some things that cannot be comprimised.
