Dairy economists predict the retail price of milk could rise as much as 30 cents per gallon — a 9 percent jump — by fall. The reasons include rising fuel and feed costs for farmers and increasing demand for milk products around the globe.
Costs have surged for fuel and petroleum-based products and for the corn used to feed dairy cows, a side effect of increases in the production of ethanol.
A twofer!!!! And just think, you;ll be doing your bit to deal with global warming by using the mower less :-)
I hadn't thought of that. My son will be grateful he doesn't have to mow as much, but as for the global warming thing, I still have to run the lawn vac. I don't know if goats eat leaves and I have a bunch of trees. Global warming, another religion of the lunatic left! Thanks for the morning chuckle.
Just wait a couple of years, and after all the money is p*ssed away only to learn that ethanol production consumes more energy than it produces.
You do know that the government paid dairy farmers to go out of business a few years back.

I am glad my son has moved out of the house, when he lived here we went through 5/6 gallons a week. Now we barely go through 1 a week.
They're a good family project, though. Small enough to be manageable. And they're cute. The 4-H program does dairy goats if your kids are so inclined.
That cat doesn't look very happy about being milked.
Anyone who thought the concept of burning food for fuel was a damned fool. LOL.
This country is getting a good lesson in economics these days . . . or at least those who are willing to understand what's going on are.
Goats are run, alright, unless you plan to have a garden on the same planet!
When government meddles in the free market, price distortions occur. Burn ethanol or oil, emissions and CO2 occur, but the greens in government say ethanol good, oil bad out of emotional bias.
By pushing ethanol and giving it tax breaks, corn is in demand and its price rises. Bio diesel is next and that will make soybeans pricey too. Milk, beef, pork, chicken and fertilizer prices will rise due to market effects of political decisions of the do gooders.
In San Diego you can still buy two gallons for $4.99, making it $2.50 a gallon, I use one and freeze the other.
At the same store the Organic milk was about $5.69 per gallon.
WOW. I don't remember the last time I paid $2.50 a gallon for milk.
Buy badger milk.
I bet he's drinking a lot more water now that he is paying for it himself.

I bought 2% for $2.50 and whole for $2.89 yesterday. On sale, though.
Business investment is down for four out of the last five months, and nobody in government believes in supply side economics anymore. Enjoy the higher prices.
In my normal supermarket, that's not where I was yesterday, the store's own brand is $3.69 for whole milk and $3.99 for 2% (I just asked a friend who was there this morning)
