Add "mujahid" and "shaheed" to that list as well. Hell, throw in "mushrikoun" and "takfir" too.
At this rate, they well have to rip out sura and sunna's from the quran's and hadeeths - and make sure they do so openly, and in a non-violent fashion, lest anyone gets the impression that islam and violence is linked in some manner.

But, isn't this sentence itself "confusing terrorism and Islam"? The EU needs to come up with a better term, quick. It won't be long before EU "leaders" are replaced with Imams.
Also don't confuse religion with islam.

BTW. I appologize for not posting an answer as promised. It is typed up and saved in a word document, but I will not be sharing it. I'll stand by my original thoughts on the matter.
Anyhow. D'Souza might have some sympathy for this EU initiative. Let's not antagonize the "traditional muslim" with unneccesary talk about jihad and so forth. However, in my experience, the people who seethe about such matters are primarily muslim brotherhood, CAIR types AND idiotic western
liberals examplified by this EU initiative. Sensible people, like this Syed character and for instance Khader in Denmark have a more sensible view.
BTW, the more open debate about islam in Norway the last couple of years have now resulted in, like in Denmark, the formation of a group of muslims coming forward against fundamentalist jihadee islam, and in support of democracy and freedom.
Shabana Rehman's little brother is amongst the founders I believe. A very articulate bright young man who has already incurred the hatred of the local CAIR types. He's an uncle Tom, he's a coconut (Brown, but white on the inside) bla bla bla. (BTW. it surprises me how many of these fundie muslim types invokes racial arguments...)
I truly believe this is the way forward. It is our right to discuss the possible linkages between misogyny and islam, terror and islam, and lately in Oslo due to the large wave of assualt rapes, rapes and islam. Many muslims themselves would do themselves a huge favour by a bit of self introspection on these matters. Infact, if they are to live in our western societies we should demand it of them.
At any rate, it is not worth squashing our values from the enlightenment in order to appease fragile muslim psyches.

I have taken to referring to State as the "Department of Dhimmitute" on more occasions than I can remember and can see this especially from the Office of the Chief of Protocol. When it comes to the pervasive mentality at State, you're right on the money. Good people get sent in, and have their effectiveness strangled out of them.
