Lawrence Eagleburger on Neal Cavuto's Show
Vanity

Posted on 03/29/2007 1:16:34 PM PDT by Stayfree

I hope someone can replace this thread with a transcript of Neal's interview with Eagleburger. Eagleburger was saying that "it is time to get tough with Iran"..."I don't know if war is the right word, but we need to knock them around a little", etc.

"... need to knock them around a little." By God, that man has a way with words. Ain't it nice to hear talk like that? Hope somebody is listening.

But I'm afraid we'd have to have an official "Congressional Declaration of the Need to Knock Them Around a Little." We'd never get that.

Yes, Larry Eagleburger is a no nonsense, straight talking guy, but the real time to have gotten tough with Tehran would have been in the administration of the peaNUT farmer.

We can't get anything now that they're on 3-wk vacation.

All we have (funded) in our toolbox now is 'accidents'.

If the Brits could not bring themselves to fire on the bad guys when the 15 were being abducted, why would we expect them to use force to free them? It would seem the ball is in their court. If the great lady were still in charge, this would be over by now.

Yeah, we'd more than likely get the official 'Congressional Declaration of Bend Over and Take It'.

On CNBC just now a former U S Ambassador to Saudi Arabia stated that the Saudis are now convinced that the President has become an empty suit. They are convinced that the U S now lacks the will to protect them and even its own interests. They have concluded that it will be necessary to negotiate with the Iranians, the new strong power in the region. Whatever they have to do to protect themselves against the Iranians they will do and that includes withdrawing from any arrangements involving joint defense and oil agreements with us. I absolutely agree. The Arabs respect power and only power and when you no longer have it you no longer have there respect. Loyalty absent power is nonexistent.

You tell me. What foreign government would trust our government after watching the Democrats over the last week.

I loved it when H&C had him on to discuss North Korea. Hannity asked him what we should have done about NK, and Eagleburger replied, "You don't want me to answer that. I'll scare you."

Believe me there are no governments that any longer have faith in the word or the power of this country. The democrats are, of course, just being treasonable democrats as they have always been. Our president unwilling or unable to call their hand on their perfidious behavior instead goes jesting last night with the media elites. In the face of great danger to the nation, he is incapable of rising to the righteous indignation demanded in this situation and we are being left defenseless before the enemy.

You're attacking the wrong person. We have one President. He's the best we have in part because he's all we have. That's a fact you need to deal with. Attacking him only hurts him and us at this juncture. Spend your fear and fury against our foreign and domestic enemies, and you won't have much left with which to attack our President.

Actually, I believe he served under a republican administration. He showed nothing but contempt for the democrat congress but he recognized the honest failings of this administration which unfortunately the Bushbots have either ignored or excused. I truly believe if more Bushbots had adamantly protested the failings of Bush, he might have changed course several years ago. Too late now.
