Rudolph W. Giuliani accepted the endorsement of Steve Forbes yesterday and embraced Mr. Forbess signature issue, saying he liked the idea of a flat tax something Mr. Giuliani denounced when Mr. Forbes was running for president.
If there were no federal income tax, maybe Id suggest not doing it at all, but if we were going to do it, a flat tax would make a lot of sense, Mr. Giuliani, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, said yesterday, standing beside Mr. Forbes at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square in New York. But he said it was not clear whether dissolving the current system, so ingrained in the economy, would be feasible.
These days, Mr. Giuliani calls himself an advocate of supply-side economics and tells audiences that he cut taxes and restrained spending as mayor. He said several times yesterday that the federal tax code should be vastly simpler.
The thing I like about Rudy Giuliani is that in New York City he demonstrated he was willing to try big things, Mr. Forbes said. In a Giuliani presidency, he predicted, well have an assault on the federal tax code.

More pandering. As his numbers go down, his pandering will rise.
Amazing that New Yorker's were never offered a flat tax, oh-I'm wrong, they get to pay a flat 10% city income tax...on top of State and Federal income taxes.
Rudy, please stop while you have a shred of respectability left...please.

Our Founding Fathers pledged their fortunes for our Independence, while US global elites spend to dissolve America's sovereignty.
That's a big difference on Capital and how you use it.

"In a Giuliani presidency, he predicted, well have an assault on the federal tax code." This has all the authenticity of a sideshow barker's announcment of the wonders that await inside, and none of the believability.

That's my dream ticket, too! Sweeping tax reform would ROCK.

Flat tax proposed by wealthy white men is just begging to be demonized and demagogued by the dims.

Hillary will mop the floor with ANY and ALL of the other Republican candidates. This old canard again? And based off of meaningless polls?
Do your fingers get tired of typing the same argument over and over?

Half the fun of supporting Rudy is seeing how pissed off it makes others. That would be like me supporting Barack Obama, just so I can "piss off" my dad.
Might be fun, but it's a horrible way to pick a Presidential candidate.

..and Reagan was once a democratc. Your point? Strawman. You forget that Reagan himself admitted that Democratic Party left him. His ideals were consistent; any changes occurred long before he tried to campaign for President. Much, much longer than Giuliani in any case.
As it is now, Giuliani is pandering.

The interesting thing, though, is seeing how much Rudy supporters and opponents both seem to like Fred Thompson. He's easily my second choice... and not that far behind Rudy.

Right on, illegals then will have to pay taxes. I bet that would be a big change.

Thank you for revealing the true beliefs of the anti-Rudy posters -- they hate capitalism, hate Bush, and can't wait for Hillary to be president. They try to claim to be conservatives, but, your/their occastional slips clearly show the opposite.
How exactly do you conclude this? Aside from McGovern, Rudy is as liberal as any 'Rat ever nominated for the presidency.
Tax reform is nothing new and it doesn't mean someone is a conservative because they "support" it. Hell, Jimmy Carter called the income tax system a "disgrace to the human race." It's meaningless, because as appealing as the flat tax is, the reality is that it will never happen.

I wondered what Rudy offered him.
It appears Forbes had a price, and Rudy paid it.
