Firefighters were rescuing trapped office workers from a three-alarm blaze at a high-rise medical office building in east Houston, fire officials said.
The fire was reported about 5:15 p.m. at an office building on the East Loop near Gellhorn.
As thick clouds of black smoke poured from the building, the Houston Fire Department rescue team was called to the scene to help evacuate people.
Tommy Dowdy, a Houston Fire Department spokesman, said up to two people had already been sent to a hospital for treatment. He was unsure how many others might be inside the building.

Wasn't there one in Chicago, today too? Prayers
Yep, there was.
I've been watching for the last hour or so online at KTRK. They aren't sure they have everybody out yet. Fifth and sixth floors were having large flames and black smoke but they started pouring water on it in the last 15 minutes and the smoke has started to turn gray.
My sister might be caught in all of the traffic buildup.
I wonder if they are both CAC/HVAC related?

Those poor people coming down that ladder!! I'd be terrified!
Kiss my grits...
I was having the willies just watching them come down.
Did they ever say where it was?

Prayers for the firefighters and others affected.
