This story made my day. You can just tell he is not a liberal judge.

I instantly knew of one MA resident who this hero couldn't beThe resident you are thinking of would have staggered back to his compound and called for help the next day, after consulting his lawyer.

No, worse.
He would do nothing to save the child but would sue the pants off the parents for not keeping her away from the ledge. Sad thing is, I'm probably dead on correct.

If this man were a member of an emergency response personnel's union he would be fired for not following protocol.

Thanks for posting a positive story.
"the boyfriend of the girl's mother, " and I am surprised? No, not really.

This guy obviously had big enough stones he didn't have to worry about the temporary shrinkage he no doubt experienced from the frigid water...
To: metmom
Aren't you just a little quick to judge. I didn't read any facts in the story that would lead me to believe this was anything other than an accident. I really can't see how the boyfriend is an idiot.

I wonder what kind of sandwich it was.....
To: doubleaught
They are both idiots (mother and bf)....an unattended 5 year old girl on a dock says all it needs to say. If she was being watched properly, then a stranger DID NOT have to be the one to jump in and save the girl.

I'm with you- as a single dad of 3 little angels I live in constant daily fear of the minor error that turns into major catastrophe.

Depends where he dropped it.
To: petercooper
Nah, it would've violated the 5 second rule.
To: Soothesayer
I'm surprised the girl's mother didn't sue him.
To: doubleaught
Letting a 5 year old play on the edge of a dock when you aren't there to supervise and rescue her yourself qualifies.
