Weather Channel Host Shows Climate Alarmists' Ugly Side
The Heartland Institute ^ | 3/25/2007 | John Dale Dunn

Posted on 03/25/2007 8:30:50 AM PDT by Excuse_My_Bellicosity

Heidi Cullen, a Weather Channel meteorologist who hosts the station's alarmist weekly program The Climate Code, created a media stir on January 18 by calling on the American Meteorological Society (AMS) to decertify meteorologists who disagree with her alarmist global warming views.

Politically Correct Warming

On her Weather Channel Web log, Cullen stated, "If a meteorologist can't speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn't give them a Seal of Approval."

Added Cullen, "It's like allowing a meteorologist to go on-air and say that hurricanes rotate clockwise and tsunamis are caused by the weather. It's not a political statement ... it's just an incorrect statement."

Nuremberg Trials

Cullen's aggressive remarks continued a recent trend of global warming alarmists seeking vengeance on scientists who disagree with their theories. In 2006 Dave Roberts, prominently featured in the December 17, 2006 episode of Cullen's The Climate Code, called for Nuremburg-style trials to convict and execute global warming skeptics.

Similarly, university-appointed state climatologists in Delaware, Oregon, and Virginia have been threatened with dismissal from their positions because they have raised questions about suspect global warming assertions. (See story, page 10.)

Scientific Method Ignored

Sterling Burnett, senior fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis, noted the irony of scientists calling for draconian reprisals against skeptics of global warming alarmism.

"The entire scientific method is built upon the enormous value of skepticism," Burnett said. "Good science depends on skeptical voices challenging the dominant belief until theory is proven to be fact. Until and unless all reasonable doubt has been removed from a scientific theory, scientific challenge and debate is essential to the scientific process and, ultimately, human well-being. History has certainly proven that over and over again.

"With this in mind, what they should be doing is stripping away the credentials of those who seek to stifle scientific debate. Those who seek to stifle scientific debate are the true enemies of science," Burnett added.

Eco-Money OK

Writing on the Web site of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, Marc Morano, communications director for U.S. Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), noted a deep irony in claims by global warming alarmists that skeptical scientists are merely pandering for industry dollars.

Morano wrote, "The well-heeled environmental lobbying groups have massive operating budgets compared to groups that express global warming skepticism. The Sierra Club Foundation 2004 budget was $91 million and the Natural Resources Defense Council had a $57 million budget for the same year. Compare that to the often-media-derided Competitive Enterprise Institute's small $3.6 million annual budget."

Burnett concurred. "Scientists and policy analysts seeking to profit economically from their position on global warming have a very easy choice to make. All the big money from government grants, non-government organizations, and foundation gifts is dependent upon the perpetuation of global warming fears," Burnett observed.

No it's not.

I thought that was a pic of Heidi, that's why I said that. And I attributed those things to Heidi because her rantings are as far away from any reasonable science as your nose is from Mars. Think this kind of stuff doesn't go on? Guess again. I've seen women that are blindingly incompetent become senior military officers and bosses in the private sector on the basis of their looks.

The Cullens of the world decry and bash the Bush administration for alleged interference in releasing scientific reports that have been edited to reflect the administration's scientific views. They claim it to have a chilling effect on science.

Is it not, therefore, ironic that Cullen and her ilk demand "scientific cleansing" of those who fail to toe the Global Warming Cult's line?

Cullen is an Inquisitor, a throwback to the days of the rack and the burning stake. Heresy to be punished in the severest of terms. 'Agree with us, toe the line, submit to the will of Gore and you will eat and be a be to provide for your families. Fail to submit and you will be crushed'.

The draconian tendencies of Cullen and her kind are terroristic and dictatorial. The Weather Channel should fire her directly.

I am hopefully going to Resurrection Bay for some salmon fishing this summer!

I was in Seward last summer as part of a trip to Alaska.

Click here for a vanity on what we did in Seward.

Cheers!

Yea, me neither, but I received a private message from someone that accused me of being in the gutter and that I was using sophomoric humor that was better suited for a adolescent chat room.

Here are my thoughts on the subject.

I am a lifelong resident of the state of Oklahoma. I'm 42 years old. I'll be turning 43 in April.

My family has very deep roots here in Oklahoma.

I've lived here long enough to who does and does not represent Oklahoma's values.

Clearly Senator Inhof represents Oklahoma's values. Al Gore and Sen Boxer from California do not.

That's why the voters here Oklahoma re-elected him to his position in the Senate.

Al Gore is showing himself to be nothing more than a snake oil salesman for New World Orderism. Cleraly he's using this nonsense becuase he wants the Demorats to be able to gain control of people's lives.

I think you know and I know there's no such thing as man-made global warming. To say otherwise is pure B.S. and C.F.

This morning's (3-28-07) edition of the Daily Oklahoman had three letters to the editor in the editorial section. These people are nothing bu a bunch of clowns and goonies and there's simply no taking them seriously.

For that matter there's no taking anyone seriously who buys into this B.S. and C.F.

Either you represent Oklahoma's values or you worship at the Church of of Al Gore. Sen. Inhofe chose the former and for that I'm proud to call him a Senator from my home state, Oklahoma.

These three letter to the editor writers in this morning's Oklahoman worshiping Al Gore are all bald faced patholigical liars.

Regards......

Three letters on global warming this morning, eh?

I'm sure that was(n't) a random selection. There is an organized push to make the generally uninformed public believe in global warming. The local newspaper probably had to look long and hard to come up with three letters from Oklahomans espousing this crap. Okies aren't stupid when it comes to climate, they've been dealing with weather extremes ever since this land was settled. I noticed yesterday the weather history for the day showed 91 degrees in 1913, that's how extreme it is, or maybe there was global warming then too? You are so right, the people in this state are nothing if not rational and we require a lot more than Algore saying it's so before we believe it's so.

People who believe this junk science are the same one's who glom onto whatever snake oil the Dems are putting out for the season.

It would seem, the good Doctor has some issues with the Coriolis force: in the Southern Hemisphere, hurricanes do rotate clockwise...

Also they have really dumbed down their shows and information. I will watch shows like Survivorman, Mythbusters, and Dirty Jobs but not any documentaries. I find myself watching the National Geographic Channel more and more.

Propaganda Techniques Related to Enviromental Scares
by Paul R. Lees-Haley, Ph.D.
It may matter little that the expert is the only one in the universe with that opinion, if he or she is the only one whose opinions we hear. Sometimes politicians are persuaded to join in unfounded but politically advantageous rhetoric. If we like the source of an opinion, we are more likely to believe. So if a popular actor, media figure, politician, or local hero joins the process, more people will endorse the perceived reality... Like cult leaders, manipulators encourage us to close ranks and form an in-group suspicious of those who question the party line. Manipulators often try to control beliefs and actions by exploiting people's feelings. Inflammatory emotional rhetoric hardens attitudes against the opponent, and subtly justifies bending the rules to fight against the evil doer. Rhetoric that characterizes the opponent as a powerful bully... elicits a desire to root for the underdog, and provides emotional justification for bending ethical rules.
