A gross oversimplification of what happened here. Nation states do not seize the uninformed members of each other military in international waters. That is a violent breach of International Law. It is a gross oversimplification to compare this to arresting a drug smuggler or a drunk tourist.

Your tagline reminds me....I was on a thread last night about what might happen to the Brit navy men that were captured by the Iranians.

I suggested there...that considering there were rumors that those two Israeli soldiers, you have on your tagline, may have been taken to Teheran, I wouldn't be surprised if the Brit's aren't "gone" for a while.

Problem here is you are citing an article written before this latest attack. This article also was writing before the the information that the Iranian personal had conducted the operation that resulted in the cold blooded executions style murder of 5 US soldiers in Iraq last year was made public. There is a reason WHY the author of that piece put in the word "YET" at then end of his title.

At this point, I don't view this as a major crisis.

Maybe to you, Kabar, but I doubt those 15 sailors and their families feel the same way. And what of the morale of the rest of the British forces there patrolling the Sha'at Al Arab? This does have an effect.

The Britsh could simply move some of their smaller capital ships to the same spot the dinghies were taken from and let the Iranians make the next move. Publicize this well. If the Iranians won't "come out" to play, then their claims are worthless for all the world to see. If not, they can be taught a very good lesson in superior firepower.

I guess the fact the Executive is a Co-Equal branch of the US Govt seems to have been forgotten by most of the Baby Boomers hmmm? You all seem to have this odd notion that the President is some sort of Clerk of Congress. There is a very good reason the War Powers Act has never been implemented by either a Republican or Democrat Congress.

Both sides know it would never survive a court challenge.

I went to his site after the announcement. I was disgusted as the stringers who post articles on the site posted 'All the way to the whitehouse' and 'we have to give now'... only one out of hundreds said anything about giving to Cancer research and a couple posted alternatives and new meds in phase two to ask about.

This was right after the announcement. About seven fundraising posts by his site people in the comments... as if they were regular commenters. You could see them 'moving the crowd'... disgusting.

Since Schumer and Russert do not practice Law, they can probably say that they have not kept up on things like this that they did that first Year Law students could tell you were no no's. Russert saying that he did not know that you cannot take a Lawyer into the Grand Jury with you. He was lying, but he and Schumer are so dense and so totally blinded by partisan mindset that they could have wiped out half of what they learned just trying to keep up with their partisan lying.
