US-led forces raiding suspected insurgent hideouts in an upscale area of Baghdad stumbled across 150 cases of booze stashed with the usual accoutrements of war, the army said yesterday.

On a third day of clearing operations in the western Sunni Arab district of Mansur, the military said the 100 cases of Smirnoff and 50 cases of Johnny Walker were unearthed along with three hand grenades and several passports.

Fifty gallons of nitric acid were also found in other caches of explosives, weapons and ammunition.

You are correct! Force them to drink it, film them and make a mockery of them on Iraqi TV.

The way I read this, is that these Muslim "insurgents," with their devout religiousity, are not exactly "good" Muslims, since they aren't supposed to take liquor. Whether this is to make us think they are not really Muslims, and so we shouldn't blame Islam for their actions, I don't know.

I was wondering who those uniformed guys were that were in my house!
But, I don't live in Baghdad.

Must be a different incident.

Glad your alive and living on the edge. Not being able to buy beer at the store down the street is what drove me away from Dallas. Texas is not Texas until you get south of Waco.

Be safe my friend.

Well seems like we ought to play up the fact that the insurgents are clearly boozing, undevout muslims (who nevertheless want to tell everyone else how to live (or die). So in addition to being cold blooded butchers, they are anti-Koran sin-peddlers it seems.

I've been here for about 7 months. All the military guys can drink booze like its water. There are alot that still get drunk off of one beer. Drunk Koreans are funny.

When I was there a beer cost a dime -- a quart of Gordon's gin cost 90 cents -- and company was a dollar.

They probably shouldn't try to immigrate to the US via Minneapolis - they won't be able to get a cab ride from the airport...
