Hill bill protects flying public By Audrey Hudson THE WASHINGTON TIMES March 24, 2007 House Republicans are pushing legislation to protect airline passengers from lawsuits for reporting suspicious behavior that might be linked to a terrorist attack. Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, introduced the Protecting Americans Fighting Terrorism Act of 2007 on Thursday, a week after a lawsuit was filed by a group of Muslim imams who were taken off a US Airways flight in November. It is "unconscionable" that those who report suspicious activity could be "terrorized in our own court system in our own country," Mr. Pearce said on the House floor yesterday afternoon.

How about other passengers suing the Imams for delaying their flight with weird behavior?

PAFTA?

Good. I hope it passes quickly. No more extortion from and political correctness for terrorists.

It's sad that legislation has to be passed for what is generally known as COMMON SENSE.

I don't think such a lawsuit can be maintained even now, except in the most extreme circumstances, because of something called the Nohr Pennington doctrine, which says that you have a right to petition the government, which includes the right to call the cops.

Of course, there is a limit even to that, but these people came nowhere near crossing the line.

I posted when the first flying Imams story broke that the passengers needed to get together and form a class action suit going against those Imams for inconveniencing and disrupting their flight. But they didn't. Now, many of those passengers may be the object of lawsuits.

We generally as a society, are too complacent. The Imams are operating with planned intent. They are taking pages out of Jesse Jackson-type shakedown playbooks. They will continue to push the system as long as they continue to get away with it, and especially if they can walk away with a few $Million in settlement.

They are taking us for a ride, and we are allowing it.

"This case is against US Airways and not against the passengers," said Omar Mohammedi,...

This is a bold faced lie. There is no difference between suing US Airways for taking the reports of their passengers and acting on those reports and suing the passengers directly.
What do they expect to happen? If a passenger reports suspicious activity to an airline and the airline acts then the airline gets sued. So what will the airline do? Nothing. If the passengers can get sued for reporting suspicious behavior what are they going to do when they see suspicious activity? Nothing. What do these followers of Muhammad want the airlines and passengers to do when they (the Muslims) are executing their terrorist plans? Nothing.

I can't believe we even need to discuss this crap.

Having read posts thru #10, there is nothing I can add except to be thrilled to see our Republican congress critters once again taking it to the enemy. Keep up the good work and we will win in Nov 2008.

The sooner we start treating mohammadens as de facto terrorists the better. Tell it like it is.

It is "unconscionable" that those who report suspicious activity could be "terrorized in our own court system in our own country," Mr. Pearce said on the House floor yesterday afternoon.

I'm absolutely delighted that the word "terrorized" was used publicly and in this particular context.

Although it's unfortunate that such legislation is even necessary, I'm thankful that it's moving forward at this late date.

Also, from the article:

A public interest law firm that fights against religious discrimination publicly condemned the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) yesterday for supporting a case it calls "legal terrorism" and said it will file a brief with the court on behalf of the passengers.

People to thank:

Mr. Pearce has 10 Republican co-sponsors for his bill, including: Rob Bishop of Utah, Dan Burton of Indiana, Geoff Davis of Kentucky, Trent Franks of Arizona, John Kline of Minnesota, Thaddeus G. McCotter of Michigan, Howard McKeon of California, Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania, Lynn A. Westmoreland of Georgia and Frank R. Wolf of Virginia

Good News Bump!
