When you go to war you cannot tell troops who to shoot on the battlefield. and you cant cut the legs out from under them afterward.

Would we better off expelling all the JAGs instead?

Never mentioned is the fact that they have to fight combattants who wear no military uniforms.

A Marine officer assigned to special operations said Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry, the top U.S. commander, took the extraordinary step of expelling the unit after he consulted with Afghan Prime Minister Hamid Karzai.

Another PC general. I hope this is Eikenberrys last posting, he's a danger to the men under his command.

I suppose this is better than sending prosecutors in to trump up charges against them. The USA will never win another war until the troops are relieved of the burden of being PC, having embedded lawyers, embedded journalists, and rules of engagement that conform to European or French standards.

Unfortunately, this sort of PCism is a hallmark of the ruling elites (who are clearly more highly evolved than the rest of us) of both parties in this country. Its an evil thing to ask the military to fight and die, or come home in pieces, under men like this but for heaven's sake don't do what they need to do to protect themselves and win.

We're being treated like two-year olds that have been given a 'time out' and sent to our rooms.

Dear President Bush,
Could we please just nuke the bastards?

Sincerely,
knarf

It's a devil's deal, when you're caught in an ambush like this.

Do you simply take your losses and run away? That's the preferred Army doctrine. It avoids civilian casualties, but it also establishes a hunter/hunted relationship with the enemy in the hunter position. That's a direct mental victory for them, and a loss for us. It also encourages them to use these tactics, for years on end.

Do you attempt to engage your attackers? Hard to do when you don't know who they are, hiding as they do among civilians. They're not afraid to die, and they're not only willing to sacrifice civilians, they're trying to get us to kill them on accident. Events like this and Haditha aren't lucky coincidences for them. It's doctrine. Captured training manuals state they are directed to try and engineer *atrocities* that our media will pick up on.

No matter what you do, that media is there, ready to announce your sins to the world, while the Inquisitors from JAG ready the gallows.

"Victory" has long ago been replaced by "don't cause bad press". That's our policy now, and our side won't hesitate to crucify you over it.

Our Generals have become nut-less politicians and ceased to be warriors. The days of "Blood and Guts" Patton are long gone.

Karzai needs to face the fact that Marines like these are the only reason his weak-kneed a$$ is holding on to any semblance of power.

Top general ... expels Marines

Well, they had been on double secret probation according to General Wormer.

The next step is for these Marines to be sued by CAIR. A D.C. jury will gladly award the Taliban with damages.

Thanks for posting this. My best buddy is the XO of this unit.

I can tell you a bit about this. The Marines were brought in to be a hammer, as the Green Berets have too sensitive of a political relationship with the locals (as is their nature, working with indigenous forces).

For the last year, the leadership has moved mountains to stand up a completely new command, MARSOC. I can tell you that they were not trained to be teaching the locals how to play hopscotch.

I don't know any of the particulars of the attack, but I am not surprised. After all, we clearly do not want to win in the middle east, but rather convert multiple warring factions from a fascist, heathen mentality into that of the populace of Boston circa 1776.

Yep, the Pentagon pussies strike again. These armchair faggots aren't fit to wipe the asses of our brave fighting men.
