Thanks for the reply re the bear photo - I see the "photoshopped" theory has already been discussed at length. I'm inclined towards your view that it's strategically cropped to make the bears look vulnerable and stranded, and that it's part of a much larger ice flow, or maybe even attached to land. Bears are more nimble than we give them credit for, and probably could have gotten up there on their own if there's more mass to that ice flow than we're shown. But the intent of the photo is clearly to mislead - to suggest that the bears are marooned on a rapidly melting piece of ice, and are soon to meet their fate because of the callousness and ignorance of George Bush.

Antartica, it's gaining ice

See Nature's East Antarctica puts on weight

Yellow growing, Blue shrinking. Bigger pic in the link

Same with Greenland, From the European Space Agency (The colors are reversed from above)

ERS altimeter survey shows growth of Greenland Ice Sheet interior
Greenland ice-sheet elevation change in cm/year (see colour scale) derived from 11 years of ERS-1/ERS-2 satellite altimeter data, 1992-2003, excluding some ice-sheet marginal areas (white). +5.4 cm/year, or ~5 cm/year when corrected for bedrock uplift.

LOL That's the funniest photoshop I've ever seen. It's also the first time I've seen the famous "drowining polar bears" photo. Super!
