John Edwards is suspending his campaign for President, and may drop out completely, because his wife has suffered a recurrence of the cancer that sickened her in 2004, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, an Edwards friend told The Politico.
"At a minimum he's going to suspend" the campaign, the source said. "Nobody knows precisely how serious her recurrence is. Itll be another couple of days before theres complete clarity."
"For him right now he has one priority which is her health and the security of the two young children," said the friend.
As for the campaign, "You don't shut this machine off completely, but everything will go on hold."
Well, they're rich and powerful. However, after months of taking our daughter to physician after physician who could not explain the pain in her hip and waiting for an MRI of the area that would turn out to show the culprit, everything was done lightning fast. If I had to do over again what happened with our daughter, I would know what to do to speed things up. Anywho, our daughter had an MRI of her spine, and the doc immediately scheduled surgery. He would have had her in surgery within two days except he was ill and did not want to risk infecting our child. As it was, he used to time to put her on meds that would shrink the tumor that was the source of excruciating and debilitating pain. The biopsy was done during the surgery, and a more comprehensive biopsy was done within the week.
Edwards insisted she felt no pain beyond the cracked rib that first alerted doctors to her relapse earlier this week.
"You can see -- I mean, I don't look sickly, I don't feel sickly," she said. "Right now, we feel incredibly optimistic."

Elizabeth may be an intelligent lawyer, but right now she is a human being in the first stage of grieving. Denial.
She looked sickly to me, and the pain of a cracked rib is a severe pain.
Thanks for the info
and all these spinners on FOX tonight are saying: This will get John Edwards the female vote now instead of Hillary....

The Politico.com site screwed up!!! LOL
Is Dan Rather working for Politico also?
The Politico, a Web site with a companion free tabloid distributed in Washington, began in January with many respected political journalists. It was founded by John Harris and Jim VandeHei, longtime Washington Post journalists.

In an October 13 Washington Post article, staff writer Jim VandeHei reported as fact an allegation in great dispute -- that former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV was sent to Niger in 2002 "at the suggestion of his wife," former CIA operative Valerie Plame
Not sure it means anything...found it interesting.
Off to bed....thanks Mo, Txsleuth;Bahbah and all for the great job you do for those of us who don't/can't.
I don't know...he very well could be.
I don't know if you have noticed...but it seems like Hugh Hewitt has had at least one of the "reporters" from Politico on his show every night...for the last month or so.
I think HUGH either believes or wants us to believe they are a non-partisan news site...which it ISN'T.
Who is Hugh's contract with?
Statistically ...
You still out there. See 698.
I agree with you completley, especially that liars lie to themselves. She and he will both deserve our sympathy. I just hope he does not get some kind of sympathy vote at the inopportune time that puts him in the White House.
On a lighter note, the very idea that John Edwards is capable of performing as POTUS is one of the biggest lies he has ever told himself.
Since Edwards has announced that not only is his wife's cancer worse than thought, but that his campaign will continue on....Do you think that I still need to give them a break?
I do, because we cannot know for certain what motivates people to make the choices they make. Mrs. Edwards may have insisted that he continue on. She may not want to spend what's left of her life watching television and sipping tea. I'm certainly no fan of Edwards. I'm just hesitant to judge another's heart, especially when I'm busy thanking God that I don't have to watch a spouse suffer with terminal cancer.
But bash away if you must.
Have a good weekend.
Well, lots of people are questioning that. You're not exactly all alone out there. ; )
You have a good weekend, too.
I'm kind of thinking along the same lines as you. They mayh ave decided to continue for the time being and take things as they come. He can always drop out later. They may have felt that it was best for them to remain busy for the time being.
Prayers up for Mrs. E and for Tony Snow as well.
