John Edwards is suspending his campaign for President, and may drop out completely, because his wife has suffered a recurrence of the cancer that sickened her in 2004, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, an Edwards friend told The Politico.
"At a minimum he's going to suspend" the campaign, the source said. "Nobody knows precisely how serious her recurrence is. Itll be another couple of days before theres complete clarity."
"For him right now he has one priority which is her health and the security of the two young children," said the friend.
As for the campaign, "You don't shut this machine off completely, but everything will go on hold."
I fear it would be a while before I came out of the fetal position upon hearing such news. But I would like to think I would come out fighting, Truly something we don't know unless we walk in their shoes.
I suspect Mrs Edwards wants that 1600 Pennyslvania Ave address as much as he does. He may get a temp boost in the polls now but he'll never catch up to Clinton or Obama so what is this all about?
No, I believe that someone who is not following Christ is not a child of God.
Mrs. Edwards may be a good person but she is certainly not a follower of Christ. That is all I intended by my original comment. I have no animosity towards her at all.
For one thing, every human being has the not so proud distinction of being in her shoes if not presently, then in the past.
Your write that I write: You write: Please, please, please refrain from saying asinine things that justify every caricature of conservatives.
I am offended that you would put us in the same league as liberals. I doubt if you will find anything posted here other than people praying for her well being.......whether you had posted that plea or not."
WRONG!! I see many unnecessary comments being made here.
You ARE aware we have a small number of DU type people that like to act out that they are obnoxious conservatives, aren't you?
I understand that you have no animosity towards Mrs. Edwards. That is good.
We will have to agree to disagree on what your definition of a "child of God" is. :)
The oncologist aid that there was a spot on her lung, and some other unspecified suspiscious places. The results of tests on these places are not known yet.
Politico looks really bad!!
>>Was this a talking head oncologist, or someone who has seen her scans?<<
It was her oncologist. A woman, but her name escapes me.
No it isn't. I have a friend who's daughter just passed from Melanoma (tumors on the brain)... it still amazes me how patients can fight the tumors and even live semi-normal and then the end will sneak up very quickly.
That is about what it takes. I think she had a biopsy on a Friday or Monday, and had the central line, nuclear med scan, etc. by Tuesday. She was terminal, stage IV at time of diagnosis, so that may increase the "urgency."
makes me wonder if hormones for the, later in life, pregnancy could also be indicated in the breast cancer?
Why would you say that?
"You ARE aware we have a small number of DU type people that like to act out that they are obnoxious conservatives, aren't you?"
I don't care whether it's obnoxious conservatives or obnoxious liberals. Some of the comments being made here are completely uncalled for.
You're right, however, I wonder what Rosie O'Donnell thinks of this.
It can end very quickly. When someone very close to me was diagnosed stage IV, and living a semi-normal life exercising, golfing eighteen holes, etc., they passed two weeks later. You never know. :(
Don't put too much money on that line of thought. Lost my SIL at 36 to stage IV breast cancer. She found a lump at 34, dr's told her it was just fibrous tissue. Six months later, after it had had time to do its damage, they decided to biopsy it. Five cm tumor in her breast, cancer everywhere in her body: brain, spine, ribs, lungs, liver.
Sad to hear. Talking to somebody in the office about this the fact that the cancer is on the bone now can be a bad sign. Prayers for him and his wife.
Reading on another thread, I did not notice that he did not touch her during his little presser.
&&&&
I noticed that. She reminded me of an abused wife/enabler. "If I'm nice he will like me" She looked diminished and frail already. I think the second two children were conceived as props, and they are not being given any consideration as human beings with needs by their parents.
I also think that the huge house was designed to handle the press corps and the secret service, in a gross imitation of Crawford.
1 Cor 6:9-11
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Here is an article about their fundraiser(s).
