Yeah. Except one small detail... Bulgaria was an ally of Germany (not very active and later switched sides, but still...) If Poland had been as "cool", nazis would have probably won WW2.

>>>> I just enjoy pointing how how in Russia alone the Communists racked up higher body counts than the Nazis did, to say nothing of the Communists in China and Southeast Asia.<<<<<
Sadly, both Soviet Communists and Nazis were brought to power owing to U.S. bankers bankrolling their scheme to the powergrab. The cost of bring Communist terror to Russia was $20M.
Ho Chi Mihn also came to power owing to U.S. support.
What we are witnessing now, the painting the Poles with a tar brush is dangerous because it is orchestrated actions.
It seems that Hilter's work to destroy Poland is not finished yet.

We can not deny the dark past of the Poles, the very fact that the Holocaust DID happen on Polish soil says all too much about local aid to extermination of most Jews in Europe, though we have to remember the righteous, as well as the fact that the Poles suffer from the German Nazis too.

"the very fact that the Holocaust DID happen on Polish soil says all too much about local aid to extermination of most Jews in Europe"
Of course. The fact, that Poland had the largest Jewish population in Europe has nothing to do with that.
It would be much easier for the Germans to transport those several millions of Jews from Poland to let's say - France, if only those French were not so supportive and helpful to the Jewish people.
Or maybe I'm wrong? Maybe it was the French, who rounded up their Jewish people and sent them to "the Polish soil"??? (sarcasm)

As to local aid - see post #31.
Would you risk your life, and your wife/husband's, and your children's - to help someone else?
Maybe you would, maybe you're a natural born hero.
I don't know if I would. I hope so, but I don't know.
I'm really happy, that I don't live in those circumstances and don't have to make such choices.

And so was another myth developed, the Jews were blamed again for Stalin's subjugation of Poland. This myth is still reverberating through the acrimonious discussions on the Internet. Before the war, about 3.5 million Jews lived in Poland. Today, there in Poland no more than 15,000 Jews, out of a population of 38 millions. Although, small in numbers the Jews are noticed in Poland. Their presence is felt in the press, during the elections opponents accuse each other of Jewish origin. Somehow, one has an impression that the Poles feel that they are victimized by . . . the Jews. For example, a taxi driver told me that "All the banks in Poland are owned by Jews. The Jews control everything." Alexander Kimel but its not just Poland. Jewish history in Central and Eastern Europe had its ups and downs. Poland was a center of Jewish life for centuries. since the borders of Poland were fluid and re-written so often before WWII, whether one wishes to blame the Russians or others for the persecutions that took place, it still took place. it is impossible to remove the Shoah from the totality of European history as an accident or anomaly. it was indeed the pivotal of 1,000 years of history
here is the short list....

I am speaking about those Poles that deliberately gave out Jews not out of fear but out of hatred, those that lived with them for more than a thousand years, those that laughed & cheered on when the Jews were carried away to the 'one way' point of never return.
However, because of the sacrifice of the few that did save Jews in spite the danger from the Nazis, my hat to THOSE righteous Poles! I don't know if I would, I am happy I am not in this situation, your words, my agreement...

LOL ! At some level zoological anti-Polonism is getting really funny.
To: PRePublic
Not necessary. We all know that Jews were the greatest anti-commie warriors in the world.

Yep. Mel Gibson has said something like this too.
So what?
Is that supposed to mean, that Americans in general are anti-semitists?

It is also worth to remember how Polish torpedoed massive anti-communist activity of the Jewish underground resistance.

As to those "FEW"
The fact, that 1/3 of the total number of the Yad Vashem's Righteous Among the Nations are Polish (despite of circumstances like those described in post #31) is in your opinion a pure coincidence probably. Right?
FYI - Poland was the only country in occupied Europe, where if one helped a Jew (for example gave them shelter) - and the Germans found out about it - they were immediately both killed, together with entire family of the helper.
It's so easy to condemn the others, while sitting in USA in 2007.

Right? I am so glad to hear that, you cheer me up, I now can grab this and show it to my Polish great wonderful friends in Chicago.

It's so easy to condemn the others, while sitting in USA in 2007. I have my mind full of the CURRENT danger, that of Islamofascism, which we are ALL in danger of.
I visited Warsaw last summer, I loved it!
To: lizol
that Yad Vashem exists and acknowledges those who were courageous in the fight of good vs. evil, yes proves that it was possible to resist. and the numbers of Jews in Poland, (which has been stated in earlier posts)provided more opportunity for heroes.
please provide evidence:
Poland was the only country in occupied Europe, where if one helped a Jew (for example gave them shelter) - and the Germans found out about it - they were immediately both killed, together with entire family of the helper.

The Polish King was the one who invited the Jews who were kicked out of Iberia into his country in 1492.
