As to local aid - see post #31. Would you risk your life, and your wife/husband's, and your children's - to help someone else? Maybe you would, maybe you're a natural born hero. I am not talking about those forced 'not to help'.

I am speaking about those Poles that deliberately gave out Jews not out of fear but out of hatred, those that lived with them for more than a thousand years, those that laughed & cheered on when the Jews were carried away to the 'one way' point of never return.

However, because of the sacrifice of the few that did save Jews in spite the danger from the Nazis, my hat to THOSE righteous Poles! I don't know if I would, I am happy I am not in this situation, your words, my agreement...

As to those "FEW"

The fact, that 1/3 of the total number of the Yad Vashem's Righteous Among the Nations are Polish (despite of circumstances like those described in post #31) is in your opinion a pure coincidence probably. Right?

FYI - Poland was the only country in occupied Europe, where if one helped a Jew (for example gave them shelter) - and the Germans found out about it - they were immediately both killed, together with entire family of the helper.

It's so easy to condemn the others, while sitting in USA in 2007.
