Needs to be repeated over and over to the unloyal ungrateful that wanted to punish the GOP. Elections have consequences. Pelosi and Reid really are working hard to let our enemy kill us.

From another article: "By voice vote and without dissent, the House Judiciary subcommittee on commercial and administrative law decided to compel the president's top aides to testify publicly and under oath about their roles in the firings."
The Republican members of the sub-committee:
Canon, UT
Jordan, OH
Keller, FL
Feeney, FL
Franks, AZ

If they want to go after Gonzales for not telling the truth or mistaken communications then fine but Executive Privilege extends to aides and council.

Unfortunately, Congress would not stop at Cheney, and the end result would be Nancy Pelosi as President of the United States.

This is something that can't be changed by law. It would need to be done by constitutional amendment or court ruling.

I think they'd have a tough time taking down President Cheney. He wouldn't go quietly. Or easily.

Gonzales is toast, though. He either didn't know what his deputy would say to Congress, in which case he's incompetent, or he did know, in which case he allowed the deputy to lie and he's a crook.
Either way, Gonzales should be ousted and a line drawn in the sand: no further.

The House Republicans are not the solution, they are a part of the problem. We are in middle of the development of a Wimpified Nation.

Back at ya.
I wont forget until '08.
Bush should have dunked ALL 93 of them after he won 04. Then he could have gone after the vote fraud, socks burgler, land boy reid, william jefferson and schumkie messing with investigations.

That's interesting. I was asking this morning why the Dems are after Gonzalez, who has so far seemed like an unambitions, inoffensive, go along to get along type of AG who wouldn't really cause them any problems. But perhaps there's more to it.

I think it's safe to say that Bush will stand his ground on this. Giving in would be unthinkable and, as you said, lead to an unending stream of investigations if all Congress has to do is issue a subpoena to get someone in front of them.

They don't want U.S. Attorneys who will investigate Democrats. Leaky Leahy is leading the charge.

I wish Gonzales would resign and make sure it's well known it's his own decision then the President should just recess appoint a hardcore Republican to take his place. The AG needs to tell these US Attorneys that they need to get these cases to the Grand Juries regardless of party and let them decide how much is needed for an indictment. Jefferson is still walking free.

This is precisely why we needed to be playing hardball with the liberals starting back in 01 or 02. It's too late now.

I'd forgotten about the other leaks that were under investigation. Presumably, the investigations have been going on quietly all this while, so long that most of us had forgotten about them. But according to a poster above, they're almost finished. So this Dem hysteria suddenly starts to make a lot more sense.
