Limbaugh Responds: Schwarzenegger A Sellout
LA Times ^ | 3/20/07 | Robert Salladay

Posted on 03/20/2007 6:29:07 PM PDT by NormsRevenge

Rush Limbaugh responded this morning to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who called the talk show host "irrelevant" and said he wasn't Limbaugh's servant. Or rather, Schwarzenegger called Limbaugh's political views irrelevant.

The two men, as Limbaugh pointed out, have shared cigars and the Republican governor generally has been diplomatic about occasional barbs from the nationally syndicated talk show host. (The governor dodged attacking Limbaugh during a recent "Face the Nation" appearance, when he was asked an identical question about conservative critics.)

Toward the end of his remarks, Limbaugh said Schwarzenegger "is a sellout, and I'm seeing way too many Republicans do it. ... I don't know what happened to Arnold. I--I don't--he may--obviously didn't have the leadership skills to articulate conservative principles and win over the public as Reagan did." Read the full transcript after the jump.

Rush Limbaugh, speaking about Schwarzenegger's interview with NBC:

LIMBAUGH: They (NBC) throw something up Arnold, and I have said recently, and it happened today. And he called me irrelevant. He said he's not my servant. And I don't know how it is I can be irrelevant when every time he shows up on the 'Today' show' they ask him about me. I'm just sure he's sick and tired of hearing about it, he's sick and tired of getting the questions.

Please tell us again exactly how you "proved" this. By claiming it was so?

And by the way, you talk like a punk. I'll bet you're a wuss.

why did Talent lose? the controversy regarding the stem cell issue, and specifically MJ Fox and Rush, brought attention to that campaign that went negatively against Talent; and in a very close race, a minor trip up is all it takes to lose.

when? almost every day. Hannity is more realistic about the issues regarding elections - who can win and who can't - then Rush is.

That's a shame. I'm sure that wasn't Rush's intention.

I may have miss something

A portion of the Vehicle Registration Renewal fees which DMV collects annually is a disguised form of property taxes. These in-lieu-of property taxes are called the vehicle license fee or VLF. The state collects the VLFs and redistributes them to the counties where the vehicles are parked/garaged/stored, not necessarily the address of the registered owner. That's real money.

The VLF rate for vehicles in California hasn't changed for many many years. It's still 2% of the vehicle's assessed valued, established by the state, applied equally in all counties. The registered owner of a $50K sedan has a $1K VLF obligation regardless, of the county in which the car is registered or stored.

Of that $1K in VLFs collected annually from the registered owner, about 40% is eventually returned to the county in which the car was stored. That's $400 in real money. If the registered owner only payed a $200 VLF, because of the Austrian's largess, where did the other $200 come from? It came from the General Fund as a subsidy of the registered owner's tax responsibility.

Where did the monies in the General Fund come from? From income, sales and valued added taxes paid by the vehicle's owner.

The loop is closed. The goose is screwed.

You were editorializing and criticizing Rush, but you can't take a simple comment in response.

You claimed Rush had more sense than I did, based on my observation about something he said. You don't know enough about me to make such a claim and it was totally gratuitous.

It's not that I can't "take it," it's just that a lot of us are getting kind of tired of people approaching the "prick threshold" around here by initiating needless personal crap.

Joe Leiberman has remained true to his Democrat party roots. If he crossed over the aisle he would INDEED be a Republican and he would be announcing it to the world. I don't imagine Rush would care one way or another. Arnold can't have it both ways. I like Arnold. Just liked him better in movies.

Also, you misunderstand Rush's pompousness...THAT part IS entertaining. You need to look beneath what he says.

You certainly seem to be overly sensitive.

My comments were based entirely on your comments. You either didn't articulate them well or in my opinion you have less common sense than Rush.

Perhaps if you read and understood the comments, you might learn something about yourself.

Sure dude. Whatever. I reported what Rush said and I commented on it. One guy called me an idiot and you questioned my political sense--based on who knows what.

I like Rush, but the Rush cult sucks.

Not only is Rush irrelevant, so are the ilk. In fact, the more Rush and the ilk squeal the more secure he is as a politician. Heck, he could walk into fineswine's senatorial seat.

I haven't forgiven Rush for giving us xlinton. It was during Gulf War I and GHW's approval was about 90% and the meathead was gloating about it. He sure did have me shouting at the radio. This morning he gave my wife a reason to feel resentment toward him and sympathy for the breck girl. Bottom line: as Rush goes, the Nation will not.
