Rush Limbaugh responded this morning to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who called the talk show host "irrelevant" and said he wasn't Limbaugh's servant. Or rather, Schwarzenegger called Limbaugh's political views irrelevant.
The two men, as Limbaugh pointed out, have shared cigars and the Republican governor generally has been diplomatic about occasional barbs from the nationally syndicated talk show host. (The governor dodged attacking Limbaugh during a recent "Face the Nation" appearance, when he was asked an identical question about conservative critics.)
Toward the end of his remarks, Limbaugh said Schwarzenegger "is a sellout, and I'm seeing way too many Republicans do it. ... I don't know what happened to Arnold. I--I don't--he may--obviously didn't have the leadership skills to articulate conservative principles and win over the public as Reagan did." Read the full transcript after the jump.

LIMBAUGH: They (NBC) throw something up Arnold, and I have said recently, and it happened today. And he called me irrelevant. He said he's not my servant. And I don't know how it is I can be irrelevant when every time he shows up on the 'Today' show' they ask him about me. I'm just sure he's sick and tired of hearing about it, he's sick and tired of getting the questions.

How true. Been saying it for years, have experienced it myself and have found it to be true even on this forum.

I would have to research your assertions, but I know from my DMV fees on my car and motorcycle, that my dues went down after Ahhnuld took power (due to him). I give him that. Otherwise, he's a left leaning centrist regarding other issues. The few bucks I saved on my DMV fees are hardly worth his pandering and compromise with the liberal CA legislature.
Please explain exactly how "general fund subsidy" correlates to DMV vehicle fees. I may have miss something.

First, drop the name calling.
Second, I based what I said on listening to his show, not reading his web site. On yesterday's show, Rush used the word "Republican" when making his statement about Arnold.
Roll the tape for the last half hour of yesterday's (Tuesday's) show. You'll hear Rush asserting that Arnold isn't really a "Republican." Maybe he misspoke, but he did say the say it more than once, in different ways. For example, he said (paraphrasing the gist here), sure the GOP has a big tent, but not *that* big.
"Rush has more common sense and educates the public about the issues better than you have."
Why the need to take a shot at me? I'm only reporting what Rush said on his show and giving my reaction to it. Step off.
And lots of people seem to forget Rush's position on the Dubai Ports deal, one which I agreed with, but which outraged many of the "big chest conservatives" around here.
I agree. And, thus, the Senate.
But Rush is, and should be first, a Conservative. If he supports a liberal like Rudy, just because Giuliani has an R behind his name, I will be sorely disappointed.
I did not follow George Allen's campaign, but will take your word for it.

It may be worse than that. I don't think Arnold's going to want to leave the corridors of power now that he's had a taste. Arnold may ultimately be a smoother Huey Long.
Say what you want about his character, the fact is he's been a success at everything he's put his mind to, and I think that if he can't constitutionally be President of the United States, he'll want to go as far as possibly can. IMHO, his acting days are over, but Arnold won't be satisfied being put in the same Trivial Pursuit category as Gopher from Love Boat or Cooter from Dukes of Hazzard. Don't be shocked if he challenges Feinstein or Boxer for the Senate in future years, or perhaps in the Congress in an SoCal district where he's assured of perpetual re-election, making him a cinch for committee chairmanship.
In 2003, Sean Hannity was flailing away trying to convince the base in CA that Arnold was one of us, and would always site him throwing red meat to the CRP as proof. Now, Hannity's trying to do the same thing with Rudy. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...
Oh my yes, Rush is the greatest and can and has done more for this country from his seat behind the golden EIB microphone than he could EVER do sitting in Congress, Senate or the White House. He is his OWN man and owes nothing to anyone...only his public who listen to him daily as he speaks the truth and exposes the phonies. No one...no one in talk radio can hold a candle to him. Many have tried but...Rush is #1 and always will be.
I listened to the show also. Your statement is still wrong. And if the name fits wear it.
Not only Hannity. Rudy even has the same FR cheerleaders that brought us Arnold.
