Los Angeles, CA (AHN) - Billy Bob Thornton is re-teaming with his one time co-star Halle Berry for a new movie. The actor, who starred with Berry in "Monster's Ball," has signed on for Lionsgate's "Tulia."
The crime-drama is centered on an ACLU attorney who tries to reveal the corruption surrounding drug convictions in Tulia, Texas, in 1999.
Karen Croner has written the screenplay, with a rewrite by Carl Franklin, the director. The film is also based on an adaptation of a book by Nate Blakeslee titled "Tulia: Race, Cocaine, and Corruption in a Small Texas Town."
Adam Rosenfelt, Jesse Franklin, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Vince Cirrincione and Berry are producing, while Sam Nazarian, Marc Schaberg, Sharla Bridget Sumpter, Malcolm Petal, Kim Anderson and Lionsgate's Tom Ortenberg and Mike Paseornek are executive producing.
Filming will begin on April 30 in New Orleans and a release date is expected in 2008.
Ping
That was a good deal for Billy Bob.
I'da payed them.®
Tulia just north of kress,Tx. IIRC,a nice little town.
You arent the only one who would have.
I smell Oscar! (despite the facts of the original case).
I just read the interview with Halle Berry in Readers' Digest. What a self-absorbed twit. No values, no morals, no nothing except selfish ambition. The celebrity worship in this country would gag a maggot.
I just made a joke about the fact that I find her an attractive woman.
I didn't submit a proposal that she should be named Queen of England.
She's got a bod that can stop traffic no doubt - and the way she drives she needs it. As an actress fuggeddaboutit - she somehow guilt-tripped Academy voters into giving her that award. And she's a major headcase!
After she got that award and went off on that long racist rant, Ann Coulter wrote a very funny and very pointed column about her.
My understanding (could be mistaken) is that she hates white people even though she was abandoned by her black father and raised by her white mother.
Now that she's over 40 she's suddenly discovered that she wants to be a mother. No husband, of course. I'd almost bet that she had at least one chance and threw it away somewhere along the line. I could be wrong, of course.
And she's a major headcase!
I'd better translate that into my native tongue (aka Bamatalk) -
Damn, she sho is purdy!
But she is crazyer than a Betsy bug....
why not film in Tulia???? I would love to see those Hollywood types survive a week living there
Something is just wrong with a world that rewards ill-tempered, semi-talented, quirky rednecks such as BBT like that.
Although I thought he did a good job in Alamo.
In my day the BBT type was mostly only good for if you were in the mood to whip some ass. You could always count on at least one to be hanging around in the Dairy Queen parking lot - big mouth and all - and ready to oblige you a go.
So instead of Tulia or any other town in the high plains, they chose NEW ORLEANS? Well, I would just love to see the wacko actors in a West Texas sand storm.
My guess is that they would not be very welcome in Tulia.
"Make muh feeeel gooooood !" ;-)
