Using Live Mice...

Posted on 03/20/2007 12:30:33 PM PDT by John Robinson

We technicians here in the Free Republic server room experimented with real mice attached to our computers. Unfortunately, not one mouse survived being plugged-in for more than a few minutes. We've reverted back to the hamsters, they're more durable and they know how to dance to the electronic pop music we enjoy.

You should notice a significant improvement in response time.

Go go hamsters.

Girls are loving spring.

The squirrels are frisky and so are they.

I dunno, Girl. It's only 84 here. If I sent some, it might be too cold here, and then I would have to get a sweater.

I thought you said you wore a sweater if it was below 100? If it's already 84 and you're in your sweater, you can spare some sunshine, can't you?

Think of the [sun] starving Eskimos in the arctic....

I think of the Eskimos. I don't think they're starving for sun...I mean, they get a whole summer of sunshine and no night. "But Mo-om! It's not dark out! How can it be bedtime?"

By the time the sun starts to shine at night, the snow is mostly gone from where in native Indians live.

Oh...you'll have to forgive me, I'm a victim of publik ejukashun....

But I thought the Eskimos lived side by side in harmony with the Polar Bears, the Orcas, and baby Harp Seals?

Um....no. They kill all of the above for sustenance. And other things.

See...in spite of what AlGorey says, man is the steward of the earth, and as such, he has to tend the vineyards. Animals and plants, minerals and water, etc., are all here for Man's use, not the other way around. We're still learning how to take care of it all.

Besides: Alaska is pretty darn big, and the Natives have to go quite a ways to get game.

Oh, well I wasn't really wrong then...

They live in harmony with the critters, and then eat them.

That's what Man does, isn't it? Of course, we have a responsibility to make sure there is enough to go around, but the "savage" tribes all over the world were better at that than the White Man ever thought of being.

But yah...live in harmony, but take what you need to survive. Besides...I like fur...;o]

Well, actually, the "savage" tribes only survived well out of luck...most in fact became nomadic, because they lived in one place long enough to decimate the natural resources, and moved on because there was nothing left to eat.

Would that be "seasonal" migrations? Like some four-legged mammals? Man migrated to feed himself on what was available. "Depletion" may be just another way of saying the seasonal foods were no longer available.

Hi, Face! I hope she's still with us tomorrow, after spending the night in the garage. I guess it's unkind, but I'm not willing to pay for emergency weekend vet care ...
