However, the reality is that Bush Fired Rumsfeld based on Democrat demands.

Wrong. SecDef Rumsfeld put the good of soldiers on the ground in war zones above himself. He understood at this time a SecDef needs to have the ability to be doing his job (seeing the big picture) and making tough decisions.

Once the DEMs took control of both chambers (because foolish GOPers pouted and stayed home over a few domestic issues)....SecDef Rumsfeld and CINC GWB knew they would have him in hearings after hearings.....And that isn't what this country needs at this time out of their SecDef.

It was the GOP base who gave SecDef Rumsfeld the boot (indirectly). Those who their domestic politics above the their support for the war effort. That is the bottom line.

But it's easier for many to blame GWB....so they do that. Unfortunately for GWB and SecDef Rumsfeld (actual leaders) they have to make choices and decisions based on what is happening in the real world....and what are the best alternatives to actual facts of the real world. That is why SecDef Rumsfeld left.

Thanks for this perspective. It is easy to be overwhelmed by the daily negative drumbeat sometimes.
