She was the nation's top cop during the Clinton administration. Now former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno is making news by saying women are better managers than their male counterparts.
Reno, who was the first female Attorney General in the U.S. spoke Friday morning at Citigroups Latin American Women's Council in Miami.
In addition to talking about her career, past leadership roles and challenges she faced as Attorney General, she also said that women make better managers because women interact with their employees.
Women can manage, can understand the conflicting pressures that are brought to bear on people who are trying to work and trying to build families and it is so important that you hear from the people that you work with to understand what they are faced with and what problems can be resolved by people working together, Reno told CBS4S Art Barron.
She went on to say, Women are sensitive to the issues that an employee is faced with. They can work together with that employee to solve problems in the workplace in order to give them better opportunities.
Reno also talked about how shes enjoying life after politics and spending time with her family.
Reno would not talk about the controversy surrounding Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and the firing of eight federal prosecutors.
She says she has not been briefed on his issues.
I think you need to look at each case and make sure youre fully informed with respect to the facts of the case and then it will be appropriate to make a judgement.

How would she know?
She went to the Helen Thomas School of Charm.
"Isn't that n-i-i-i-i-i-ce!"
Women make better managers? Now I know what the Red Sox need...
Well just about any woman would be better than Dusty Baker was for the Cubs. Heck I think even Ms. Reno would have done better.
LOL!
"Women Make Better Managers"
Well, that leaves Janet out.
Yeah right. Just ask all the DEAD CHILDREN in Waco. She did a real good job.
Yep...good old Janet "The Doormat" Reno surely did manage to take the blame for the murder of 20 children during the Waco massacre, so that her lying boss, Billy Jeff, didn't take the heat for that fire. And she managed to keep her job, a testament to the moral depravity of the general population and the weakness of the GOP "leadership" in Congress. (Wasn't Newt in charge then?)
She really managed Waco well. She really managed Illian Gonzales well.
Look at the Cardinals. They are managed by a liberal whiny butt but great manager Tony LaRussa who looks more womanly than Ms. Reno.
There good and bad managers out there and I do not think the sex of a manager makes a difference.
I am currently working with a wonderful female manager and have worked with some really bad ones whose feminist attitude gets in the way of their life and leadership skills.
She's good at managing fires and child snatchings.
How about managing the prosecutors in Florida the pub that lead to her getting the AG job to begin with when they forced kids to make up stories to accuse a daycare center of satanism?
I hate to say, while I disagree with her policies, she was much more effective than Gonzalez is, that's for sure.
Her conception of a "good manager" seems to be someone who makes the workplace a sort of "comfort zone" for employees. I worked with people like that. It's hell.
Please remember, dfwgator, being a better AG than Mr. Gonzalez is no big deal. :)
Just being "sensitive to the issues that an employee is faced with" is all that really matters, I guess.
