NEWARK -- Atheism might be the last political taboo, but it doesn't seem to have hurt Rep. Pete Stark in his East Bay district.
In town hall meetings in Newark and San Leandro today, the 35-year congressional veteran received only cheers and applause when a speaker brought up a survey this week that named Stark as the highest-ranking politician in America who was willing to admit he doesn't believe in God.
Stark waved away any suggestion that he was being courageous when he described himself to the Secular Coalition for America, an association of atheist and humanist groups, as "a Unitarian who does not believe in a Supreme Being.''
"It's not courageous to make a simple statement about personal beliefs,'' he told about 70 people at the San Leandro City Hall. "What is courageous is to stand up in Congress and say, 'Let's tax the rich and give the money to poor kids.' Now that's courageous.''

His atheism is between he and God. His liberalism and treason tells me he should be hanged and sent to meet HIM.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Let's tax the diligent and productive and give the money to the slackers and victims'... and that's OUTRAGEOUS!
Must be a 'Stark-raving mad' one at that!
Fortney believes that he is God. His constituents believe he is God too. Save us Fortney! Tax "the rich!"
Not politically, perhaps. Can't say the same about his soul.
No, no, he's on to something here. Let's tax rich liberals at 100%. After all, it's time for these Marxists to $hit or get off the pot.
Bingo!
Oh really...last time I checked you godless liberals forced on us abortions, removed school prayer, ACLU lawsuits to remove religious symbols, forcing homosexual marriages etc.. doing it with the Clinton appointed blacked robed tyrant judges...the organized religion of godless, perverted secularism.. Mr. Stark from the dark.

Still, Stark was struck by the fact that not one of his 534 colleagues in the House or Senate was willing to say he or she was an atheist.
The mantra of the Democratic Party. Where I have heard that before? Somebody else said it, something very similar...we will take things away from you for the common good...or something to that effect.
And while the Left tries to pull Atheists and Homosexuals out of the closet, they try to push Christians into the closet, at least until the gas chambers get up and running.
He will wish he believed on that day that he meets his Maker. Only then it will be too late. Molly Irvins knows now. Eternity is a long time.
There's a good part of the Bay Area electorate that would vote for a pile of poo if it ran as a leftist. And truth be told, Fortney comes fairly close. Fortney is proof positive that David knew what he was talking about when he wrote Psalm 14.
It will very soon.
Fortney Stark: another one of those who don't believe in Hell.
Until he gets there.
It will. When he leaves this world, he will sing a different tune.
Well now we know that he is stupid.
As to the atheism, who cares?
It is not whether he believes in God, it is whether God believes in him.
He will need to think upon that come a day.
