Senior figure from al-Mahdi army killed in Basra - eyewitness

A senior figure in Shiite Cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's al-Mahdi army was killed Thursday morning by unidentified gunmen north of the southern Iraqi city of Basra, an eyewitness said.

"Unidentified gunmen driving a modern car opened fire against a person near his home in al-Ablah area, al-Maaqel district, killing him on the spot," an eyewitness told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

"The slain was a leading figure in al-Mahdi army in Basra," an eyewitness said.

Unidentified gunmen terrorizing terrorists? I like that approach. Maybe the brazen Mookie and his buddies might decide to play nice if a few more end up like this.

WE should have been conducting "drive by" whacks or car bombs against the militant "wheels" -- for the past three years...

Why the hell we refuse to specifically target those who RECRUIT, TEACH, TRAIN, PAY, CELEBRATE, SUPPORT, HIDE, FEED or in any way SUSTAIN the enemy.....in indicative of the fact we haven't learned how to deal with the enemy of this era...

The very visible and vocal loud mouth Islamist bastards SHOULD be seeing their colleagues dropping around them like camel turds..

Remember that right now, the US is effectively splitting the Mahdi army in half, making with a lot of sub-commanders in Sadr City. This is causing some bad blood among them.

I see two factions, the hot heads who want to attack US forces now, and the other one that wants to bide its time. But which one is fully in the pay of Iran?
