If a country like Sweden, infamous for its PC socialist policies can embrace a person like (rather) newly elected (in Sept 2006) PM Mr Reinfeldt, PC Socialism might actually someday come to an end.
Even in Europe.
It is intrinsic human nature to desire liberty and freedom.
The article:
"Reinfeldt crushes Sahlin in popularity stakes Published: 17th March 2007 10:53 CET Online: http://www.thelocal.se/6718/
Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has higher approval ratings than the Social Democrats' new leader, Mona Sahlin, who is due to be confirmed to the post on Saturday.
In a poll by the Skop Institute, voters were asked which of the two was most able to lead a government. Voters gave Reinfeldt a crushing victory, with 63.2 percent against Sahlin's 36.8 percent.
Reinfeldt was even popular among members of the LO union, which is affiliated with the Social Democrats. Some 43 percent of LO members backed Reinfedlt as the best head of government, while 57 said Sahlin was best.
Asked who they would prefer to sit next to at a party, the two party leaders split the country down the middle. Reinfeldt had a slim advantage, with 51.2 percent choosing him, while Sahlin was on 48.8 percent.
Some 1,100 people were interviewed for the poll, which was carried out between 26th February and 15th March."

Well, the civilization [such as Western civ] is about the way of life, i.e. the sociology of it, and not about popularity contests.
It ought to be pointed out that Swedes hardly doubt Sahlin to be a good leader because of their unfamiliarity with her.
Sahlin is one of the most media exposed persons in Sweden/Scandinavia.
To many Swedes and other Scandinavians, Mona Sahlin represents the failure and ideological bancruptcy of traditional Scandinavian Socialism.
The Swedish Social Democratic Party managed to steer away from the trade unionism blackmailing (the party has, to a large extent, for long been controlled by the powerful Swedish trade unions) of the 1970's and since the early 1990's, Swedish economy is booming.
Despite of the overall economical progress of Sweden since the beginning of the last decade of the 20th century, many Swedes aren't convinced the Socialists were running the country in a proper way. That's why they got voted out.
One large fiasco is the area of "integration". Sweden have received too many non-western immigrants. Many of these immigrants themselves say so.
Sahlin is symbolic, nay monumentual, of the Social Democratic failure in the area of immigration policy (She was 'Minister of Immigration' for several years. Furthermore, she's infamous for being unable to organize her own private economy and having abused government accounts for the most ridiculous of reasons (like not having enough cash of her own for buying a bar of Swiss chocolate!), despite her large net.
No more import of non-western immigrants, no more PC hogwash.
I've had an overdose.
Yeah, Mona Sahlin--- life of the party.
Apparently the yearning for freedom and liberty only becomes an important human need if you DON'T have it.
But from time to time, either through inattention or outright hostility to the idea, freedom and liberty are given short shrift. Large numbers of people give up their claim on freedom and liberty, in exchange for some certainties that are offered, but somehow, never get delivered. Then the cycle of purchasing freedom and liberty starts all over again, usually at the cost of a considerable number of lives.
Some of the lives are lost for the right reasons. Those who would deny liberty and freedom to others, and are adamant about keeping that vision of things, do die. But much more often, those who want the ideals of justice, rightness and decency restored, are the ones who die, in keeping with the legal restrictions placed upon them by those who will not listen or respond to reasoned argument.
This ideology was pressed upon the people of Europe from the rise of the power of socialism, in its nationalist form, one of which was National-Socialist (Nazi) Germany, and its internationalist form, that of the Soviet Union and its long tentacles reaching out from its empire, into practically every country in the world. While Sweden was never really part of the international socialist web, their own home-grown form was plenty restrictive (perhaps not as much as in the Third Reich, but stultifying anyway), and the Swedes are only now rolling back some of its worst effects. But even so, they really don't want all that much liberty and freedom yet, either.
Islam has become an ideology in which the concepts of freedom and liberty are very limited, if extended to anybody at all. And that is the internal problem that must be solved, before Muslims may be able to rise above the 7th-Century thinking in which they are mired. Millions of Muslims shall have to die, before the thousands of Muslims who cause all the dying are destroyed by the millions more who tire of the oppression.
Islam will not conquer Europe nor the US, neither will Socialism or Nazism.
Cultures where scores of citizens are aware that they're members of a culture on the threshold of a 'high culture', a 'renaissance', is one of the most beautiful things to behold. When the Italian renaissance took place, people were actually aware of the progress that took place in many areas and had the days of the Black Days fresh in mind to compare with.
Today, despite low fertility rates and so on, the West leads the world like no time before in history.
I sure acknowledge the threats to the West of today.
However, when the we Westerners, despite all our sissy, internal quarrels decide to unite once and for all and forward the true goal of Humanity, the sorry remnants of the dark ages of mankind won't know what hit'em.
We will launch a new golden age. A 'high culture' unparallelled in human history.
An ideal 'high culture' is a society where liberty, creativity, true citizenship, education, happy families and productivity is hailed and honored - as well as order.
This is our goal.
Best of regards from Europe to the brave people of the US.
Correction:
"Black Days" I wrote by mistake. Of course, I meant "Black Death".
Apologies.
