Thanks for the heads up. I checked the canned I had on hand, and my pets are in the clear. They normally just eat dry, but in the winter months, I add a little fat to their diet so they don't get such dry skin.

I not so pleased with the way that Menu Foods tested their stuff. They fed it to 40 to 50 cats and 7 died. Why not test on rats? The cats were all quite young, under a year old, many as young as 4 months.

Yeah, you old salts sure know how to discuss things. Your post - "I refuse to read because I KNOW everything."
You should shake your head and walk away... in shame.

The Big Male Grey Cat's blood test came in and he has 2 of 8 kidney function parameters way over normal limits. There is notable kidney dysfunction but the vet says he may be able to recover with time. I was at the vet again today and he taught me how to administer an electrolyte IV. I have to give the Big Male Grey Cat 200 ml every day for a week to clean out his kidneys and ensure proper hydration. I tried the organic raw chicken on both cats and they walked away from it. Tomorrow I'll try and mix it with something else. They are eating a little Friskies dry food.
Thanks to all for your concern and advice!

Try a search on this forum's 'health' section, for more imformation, many cats has survived years with weak kidneys given the proper diet, getting a drinking fountain has helped to get them interested in drinking more too,

sorry you had to do the IV thing, that wasn't easy, but my cat was doing the 'crashing' thing at the time, so as I was getting sure she was close I felt that she would only be having more bad days at my insistance, and as much as I wanted more time, I didn't want her suffering.
Oh mixing dry and wet food causes more bacteria then it's worth,
best of luck, sounds like you've caught it early. Prayers too.

Thanks for your prayers and I am very sorry for your loss.
We had to put down our miniature dachshund a number of years ago and I was very surprised how emotional it was, and still is for us. He was 12 and succumbed to a broken back, which is all too common among dachshunds. Terrific little dogs but I am not sure I could lose another one to the same circumstances.
People should never underestimate or belittle the attachment one can have for a pet. They are God's gift to us and give their love without reservation.

The Pet Connection site is great!
I entered our cat into their database and strongly urge anyone else to do so also.

I haven't had time to search, but they announced on the news it was rat poison in the wheat that came from CHINA!
I wonder if this same wheat gets used for human food?
