WASHINGTON Members of extremist groups have signed up as school bus drivers in the United States, counterterror officials said Friday, in a cautionary bulletin to police. An FBI spokesman said "parents and children have nothing to fear."
Asked about the alert notice, the FBI's Rich Kolko said "there are no threats, no plots and no history leading us to believe there is any reason for concern," although law enforcement agencies around the country were asked to watch out for kids' safety.

Your post makes me so depressed-
because I think you're right.
Every school board in the country should receive a briefing from their local law enforcement on this subject, with their respective contract transportation providers present.
Don't forget that there are often other transportation providers for such things as field trips, sports events, and other offsite school activities.
Also think of YMCA busses to camps, daycare minibuses, even churches often contract for busses to events.
YIKES!!!!!!
Define "garden variety."
A "large percentage"!!!!!!!!!!!!
D*MN!
I feel faint.
I live in NJ and I read about this awhile back. Two schools in NJ were mentioned not all that far from me... I talked to my school where my 7 yr old goes. They told me all was well because they had a buzzer system in place. I said well what if a parent comes to the door and a terrorist jumps out with a gun and forces the parent to get the door opened....they told me I was being paranoid. I tried to talk with other mothers who would rather not think this could happen...Denial is easier then to think yes it can happen to our children. Too many people forget 9/11 and Beslan. WE all need to remember and remind ourselves it isn't going to stop and they will try to hit us again. I don't know the answers and I just pray they leave our children alone.
LOL! Is there such a thing? A Catholic?
It's just generous immigrants who want to do the jobs lazy Americans won't.
Not in school yet.
By the time they get in school I'm hoping that we have come to our collective national senses.
Thanks for the link, I think that is the same article that Calpernia used for a thread here.
If one does a little digging, there was a San Diego article, maybe 3 or 4 years ago, on the dangers of school attacks.
Most of the threats he made, were covered by the FEDS as an alert, if one plays with google, they turn up.
A month or maybe two ago, there was a school bus driver who drove the bus into a group of kids at a school, it was only a brick wall that stopped the bus.
I remember sending it to Milford421, for his "Under Investigation" group at Yahoo....and there are now lawsuits on the incident.
There are many school bus accidents today.

San Diego school crisis plan is found on disk in Iraq
Were they hoping to pull off a Beslan-style school massacre in San Diego? From the San Diego Union Tribune, with thanks to EPG:
A man arrested by U.S. authorities in Iraq had a computer disk in his possession containing a public report downloaded from a U.S. Department of Education Web site on crisis planning in school districts, including San Diego Unified.
The man was described as an Iraqi national with connections to terrorism and the insurgency that is fighting U.S. forces in Iraq. Officials in San Diego said the man's intentions were unknown.
San Diego law enforcement officials said there was no indication of any terrorist plot against schools in San Diego or elsewhere in the country. They did not publicly release the information because there appeared to be no threat. The information was relayed to the San Diego FBI office last week and then to the school district Friday.
"The children are absolutely safe," said San Diego Police Chief Bill Lansdowne. "If there was a threat, we, the San Diego Police Department, would be first to notify (parents). This is not a threat."
The disk contained a document entitled "Practical Information on Crisis Planning, A Guide for Schools and Communities." The 50-plus page document, published in May 2003 by the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, is available to the public on the U.S. Department of Education's Web site, said San Diego District spokeswoman Peri Lynn Turnbull.
FBI officials visited the office of district Superintendent Alan Bersin Friday to inform him, Turnbull said. Because there was no indication that terrorists were targeting any schools, in San Diego or elsewhere, the district informed the school police department, but decided not to notify schools and parents.
"We certainly did not want to create any unnecessary panic in our community," Turnbull said. The FBI said because there was no specific threat, that was the appropriate response.
"The superintendent was alerted by the FBI that there were no direct threats to the district or any San Diego school and that by our maintaining our same level of care and concern that our schools would be safe," Turnbull said.
Dan Dzwilewski, head of the FBI office in San Diego, said there is no reason for alarm.
"We don't know the intention of the person that had this material," Dzwilewski said. "But the disk contained absolutely no threat information. It's only out of an abundance of caution because it was discovered in Iraq that we shared this with another public agency."
I can understand not wanting people to panic. But why would someone in Iraq someone with terrorist ties, no less care about crisis planning in San Diego schools unless he was planning to create a crisis, and wanted to see what the vulnerabilities were? Or maybe he was going to abandon the jihad and hoping to get a job in the San Diego school system as a crisis manager?

That was my first thought. I can not imagine the horror of a bus load of children under threat of harm.
Everything you've said is true.
The FBI is a politically correct disgrace. I do not feel any safer with them on watch, constantly reminding us that every instance of Sudden Jihad Syndrome is simply a random occurrence.
Here is a search for the school bus that hit all the kids:

On the radio, they just said that Denver had received a notice to check the bus drivers, for terrorists, and that:
THE FEDS HAVE REPORTS OF TERRORISTS BUYING SCHOOL BUSES AND GOING INTO THE SCHOOL BUS BUSINESS.
There is no end to this nightmare.
You need a big dose of Exlax if you believe that. Nothing in my post is a "defense" to a rational mind.
