Oh, we've regulated away big chunks of our rights, on this we agree. However, the people at Red's knew they were charged with following certain rules - which they evidently did *most* of the time.

The Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization disregards large chunks of law regarding illegal aliens.

It's a shame you don't hold government bureaucracies to the same standard you hold ordinary citizens.

My point was simply that gun shop owners have a unique responsibility to their customers and should be scrupulous. There's no reason why BATFE should ever be handed a gift, which is exactly what these folks did. If that agency wants to take down an old or successful gun shop, there are other ways they can go about it - I've seen how they work. But it does force them to do just that: *work*. Bureaucrats are not fond of that, and will likely go find something else to do.

If you want to discuss the inadequacies of the INS, I'll be happy to do so. However, isn't the problem here that BATFE is a little too eager to do its job, while INS is way, way too inclined to do *nothing* about our illegal immigrant problem?

I propose that those two agencies exchange personnel, from top management down to the GS-5 staff members. Yep, that might just work.
