ON CAPITOL HILL Valerie Wilson Testifies
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) chairs a House Oversight and Government Reform Ctme. hearing on the disclosure of CIA Agent Valerie Plame Wilson's identity. The hearing will look into whether White House officials followed appropriate procedures for safeguarding the identity of Ms. Wilson.
FRIDAY, C-SPAN AT 10AM ET
Joe is off meeting with Hollywood producers to decide who will play him and Val in the movie, based on the book, created out of whole cloth, for which this hearing needed to be called to fill in some of the fuzzy details to complete the Bush bashing picture.

The CIA obviously wasn't concerned about keeping her a secret when they allowed her to use her phoney CIA company's name to donate money to Al Gore's campaign.
We can only pray that Victoria Toesning has the nerve to call out these people for the liars they are.

Basically, get up her in her face and discredit her. It shouldn't be a hard thing to do.

Remember back in '91 when Arlen Specter grilled Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings?
The media, Emily's List, NOW, etc. all spinned it as a old white guy intimidating a browbeating a sincere woman of color.
Victoria Toensing is the only reason this farce is still on my TV.
I worked for the State of New York and every election, we were read a memo at line-up regarding our responsibilities under the Hatch Act. At no time were we allowed to conduct any political activities while at work or affiliated with our positions. Anything we did politically had to be done off duty and off grounds. I can't believe that Plame's use of her CIA's cover company to donate money to Gore was legal under the Hatch Act. It is a direct connection to her position, and if she was undercover, how could the CIA allow her to do it?
It's both disgraceful and alarming! You are so right, this is just the tip of the iceberg as to what we will see these sleaze bags doing to GWB and our country to farther prop themselves up. They are not just drunk on their power trip, they are completely deranged!
But, let us not forget, this is sooo unimportant in the main scheme of things, 'cause, oh, those GOP RINOS have been taught their lesson, uh huh! sarcasm/off
Why aren't these questions coming from Davis - is he the only Repub talking so far? How lame this all is. No mention that Armittage was the one who told people about Plame, and no charges were brought against him. This goes way beyond Plame - she's part of the CIA/Dem machine to discredit this Administration at any cost. Bush et.al. are so weak in presenting their side that it's unbelievable. And they haven't done anything wrong. God save us all.
Another question that never gets asked: What about our ambassador already down in Niger? Did he meet with Wilson? Did he know what was going on at the time of Wilson's tea drinking? Now that Valerie has lied under oath in Congress, will she go to jail with Scooter?

But, I have to add, in retrospect, the WH could have handled this differently. Instead of having Scooter et al slinking around "gossiping," Dick Cheney could have come out on DAY ONE and stated that lies are being told about who sent Wilson and why and that the results of his trip have been distorted --- without EVER having to name his wife. The WH had every right to refute the lies being told and they should have done it outfront, upright and publically then all these "journalists" would have had no story to spin. I don't understand why they did not handle it that way.
In so many other, "scandals" they have played catch-up rather than just refuting the lies and distortions head on thereby allowing these fake "scandals" to mushroom into something they were not.
Waxman mentioned relying on the DAILY SHOW to get video of President Bush saying how he would respond to someone in his admin outing a covert agent.
Everyone needs to be aware that these two seemingly ignorant men testifying are CAREER employees...they have NO reason to be loyal to the White House...
no compunction NOT to through Bush, Rove, Cheney under the bus.
After the CIA feared that Plame had been outed by Aldridge Ames and recalled her to D.C., from that time until Armitage/Novak revelations, wasn't it over 5 years, the time limit set by the law Victoria Toesing helped to write?
