Yes, he was a good conservative congressman with a good ACU rating. I believe he was 28 years old when he took office.
He wrote the book, HARVARD HATES AMERICA which was more recent than Buckley's GOD AND MAN AT YALE.
He once telephoned me because I wrote him a good letter so I was flattered as I am not one that usually swaps words with congresscritters.
Boot was against Bush even before he was elected. He had problems with the Bush campaign being too Wall Street and not enough Main Street, as I recall. Or, more GHW Bush than Reagan.
LeB's book Harvard Hates America was excellent though, I thought. He articulated conservative policies very well. I was thrilled when he got swept into Congress on Reagan's coattails in 1980. You might recall he referred to the Tip O'Neill as being "just like the federal budget: Big, fat, and out of control." He was unafraid to take on the Demo establishment. So at one time he was very much on our side. Now it sounds as if he has become a Pat Buchanan style conservative.
I like John LeBoutiller!!
He's a maverick and writes great articles!!
Thanks for the ping!
