Mayor Giuliani, considered a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, says America needs to expand its military and pitched himself as the candidate who would instill fear in the Iranian president.
"What I can do is get things done, accomplish things," the former mayor told a crowd of about 1,000 supporters at a baseball-themed fund-raiser at the Sheraton in Midtown last night. "People said New York was ungovernable. We governed it and it became the best example of urban renaissance."
Saying he is "impatient and singled-minded" about his goals, he told the crowd that he'd bring the same focus to the White House to lower taxes, reduce spending, achieve energy independence, and improve international relations. He said the country needs a "bigger military" that can handle both large attack and "multiple complex limited actions," and said it was time to capture Osama bin Laden.
Mr. Giuliani was introduced by comedian Dennis Miller, who used at least one expletive when joking about the lack of trustworthy evidence to back up claims of global warming. In a performance that felt something like an HBO standup special, Mr. Miller also called two Democrats, including the speaker of the House of Representatives, "morons" and "inconsequential people who don't take the threat to our culture seriously."
"When you watch morons like Nancy Pelosi and David Obey of Wisconsin discussing our pullout from Iraq, the other day, they make like eight errors in four seconds," the comedian said ...

just as much seemed to suggest he would be non-committal. Populist like Miller, right?
Really?
The one time before 9/11 when Rudy Giuliani had to deal with terrorism in New York City -- the 1997 shootings on the observation deck of the Empire State Building by a Palestinian malcontent -- he couldn't even bring himself to call the guy a freakin' "terrorist."
In fact, within 48 hours the perpetrator wasn't even an issue anymore -- as Mr. Giuliani took it upon himself to turn the issue into a campaign prop for his anti-gun agenda.
That's a good link, still can't support the guy though.
Dennis Miller may be just as good an articulator of the threat facing our country as Rudy.
Miller for VEEP!
How many of the 100 plus mayors of NYC have been forced to march in the GPP?
- Rudy did the same to Fidel Castro at a Dinner.
Answers.com Personalities Rudy Giuliani
- When a Saudi prince donated millions to 9/11 relief efforts and later suggested that United States policy in the Middle East may have been partially responsible for the attacks, Rudy returned the money.

If there's one thing that most FReepers have in common, it's that they wouldn't make it 15 minutes in politics. "My way or the highway" doesn't work when you're in the business of compromise. Especially when you're holding lousy cards, like we are.
Now=Not!
Yup! They seem to be in denial about that though! That's a big problem.
He undoubtedly would, if he thought his argument had any weight...draw your own conclusions.
No One forces them - it's just good policy to do it. Mayors march in most parades in NYC. Actually Mayor Giuliani marched with the Log Cabin Republicans and would not march past St. Patrick's Cathedral with them.
Is that all you guys obsess about? Gays?
He's good. He said he is going to be campaigning with Rudy. This should be fun!
He seemed pretty gay(happy) in the pictures he was cross-dressed in. He probably reeeealy hated living with those 2 gay(homo) guys after his divorce too.
Sounds like they are forced to march in the gpp. Once again, how many of the 100 plus mayors of NYC have marched in this traditional parade?
How would I know? I'm not going to do the research for you. Since you are obsessed with Gays and the Gay pride Parade find out for yourself!
Chicago Mayors have been marching in the Gay Pride Parade (and almost every group's parade) for a long time. It is simply practical politics in urban areas. You are not only looking for votes (some gays are conservative), but you are also looking to avoid making enemies with a powerful urban political bloc.
The parade can be a disgusting spectacle of perversity, but when I am in a tolerant mood I think of it as a bunch of overamped homosexuals making fun of themselves and everyone else. If the want to bf each other and wear outrageous costumes, that's their business - as long as they leave kids and animals out of it. (Oh! The poor gerbils!)
