Paul McCartney Finds "Yesterday"
In a Dream Paul McCartney is one of the most famous singer/ songwriters of all time. According to the Guinness Book of Records, his Beatles song "Yesterday" (1965) has the most cover versions of any song ever written and, according to record label BMI, was performed over seven million times in the 20th century. The Beatles were in London in 1965 filming Help! and McCartney was staying in a small attic room of his family's house on Wimpole Street.

One morning, in a dream he heard a classical string ensemble playing, and, as McCartney tells it: "I woke up with a lovely tune in my head. I thought, 'That's great, I wonder what that is?' There was an upright piano next to me, to the right of the bed by the window. I got out of bed, sat at the piano, found G, found F sharp minor 7th -- and that leads you through then to B to E minor, and finally back to E. It all leads forward logically. I liked the melody a lot, but because I'd dreamed it, I couldn't believe I'd written it. I thought, 'No, I've never written anything like this before.' But I had the tune, which was the most magic thing!"

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Inspired By a Dream In the summer of 1816, nineteen-year-old Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin and her lover, the poet Percy Shelley (whom she married later that year), visited the poet Lord Byron at his villa beside Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Stormy weather frequently forced them indoors, where they and Byron's other guests sometimes read from a volume of ghost stories. One evening, Byron challenged his guests to each write one themselves. Mary's story, inspired by a dream, became Frankenstein. "When I placed my head upon my pillow, I did not sleep, nor could I be said to think... I saw -- with shut eyes, but acute mental vision -- I saw the pale student of unhallowed arts kneeling beside the thing he had put together.

I saw the hideous phantasm of a man stretched out, and then, on the working of some powerful engine, show signs of life, and stir with an uneasy, half-vital motion. Frightful must it be; for supremely frightful would be the effect of any human endeavor to mock the stupendous Creator of the world. ...I opened mine in terror. The idea so possessed my mind, that a thrill of fear ran through me, and I wished to exchange the ghastly image of my fancy for the realities around. ...I could not so easily get rid of my hideous phantom; still it haunted me. I must try to think of something else. I recurred to my ghost story -- my tiresome, unlucky ghost story! O! if I could only contrive one which would frighten my reader as I myself had been frightened that night! Swift as light and as cheering was the idea that broke upon me. 'I have found it! What terrified me will terrify others; and I need only describe the spectre which had haunted me my midnight pillow.' On the morrow I announced that I had thought of a story. I began that day with the words, 'It was on a dreary night of November', making only a transcript of the grim terrors of my waking dream."

St. Patrick Follows His Dreams Surprisingly little is known about the life of St. Patrick, one of the most well-known saints in Christianity. The common belief that he drove snakes out of Ireland is now believed to be false. Some believe that the "snakes" in the story may be a metaphor for Pagans and Heathens. Patrick incorporated traditional Pagan rituals and symbols into his efforts to convert the Irish, who had traditionally practiced earth-based spirituality, to Christianity. For example, Patrick used bonfires at Easter services because the people honored their gods with fire.

It is known that he was born into a wealthy, but not particularly religious family. When Patrick was sixteen years old, he was taken prisoner by a group of Irish renegades who brought him to Ireland, where he was held in captivity for six years. He was put to work as a shepherd and became a devout Christian in his isolation, dreaming of converting the Irish people to Christianity. He finally escaped and according to his writing, God spoke to him in a dream. Patrick interpreted the dream as a sign that he was to leave Ireland. After walking nearly 200 miles, Patrick had another dream. This time an angel told him to return to Ireland as a missionary. Patrick followed his dream and was ordained as a priest after fifteen years of study. By this time, part of Ireland's population practiced Christianity, so the legend that St. Patrick introduced the religion is not completely accurate. Irish culture is a dreaming culture, centered around storytelling, poetry and myth. Many of the stories about him were exaggerated in the Irish tradition of weaving wonderful tales to record their heritage.

"I can but give an instance or so of what part is done sleeping and what part awake…and to do this I will first take…Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I had long been trying to write a story on this subject. For two days I went about wracking my brains for a plot of any sort, and on the second night I dreamed the scene at the window and a scene afterward split in two, in which Hyde, pursued for some crime, took the powder and underwent the change in the presence of his pursuers. All the rest was made awake, and consciously. Robert Louis Stevenson, A Chapter on Dreams, 1892.

"About ten days ago, I retired very late. I had been up waiting for important dispatches from the front. I could not have been long in bed when I fell into a slumber, for I was weary. I soon began to dream. There seemed to be death-like stillness about me. Then I heard subdued sobs, as if a number of people were weeping. I thought I left my bed and wandered downstairs. There the silence was broken by the same pitiful sobbing, but the mourners were invisible. I went from room to room; no living person was in sight, but the same mournful sounds of distress met me as I passed along. It was light in all the rooms; every object was familiar to me; but where were all the people who were grieving as if their hearts would break? I was puzzled and alarmed.

What could be the meaning of all this? Determined to find the cause of a state of things so mysterious and so shocking, I kept on until I arrived at the East Room, which I entered There I met with a sickening surprise. Before me was a catafalque, on which rested a corpse wrapped in funeral vestments. Around it were stationed soldiers who were acting as guards; and there was a throng of people, some gazing mournfully upon the corpse, whose face was covered, others weeping pitifully. "Who is dead in the White House?" I demanded of one of the soldiers "The President" was his answer; "he was killed by an assassin! Then came a loud burst of grief form the crowd, which awoke me from my dream. " Ward Hill Lamon, Recollections of Abraham Lincoln, 1847-1885, 1911.

Kathy in Alaska--this is not a famous dream but given your area . . . it's about Alaska.

END TIMES PING LIST PING. Please let me know if you want on or off the list.

This dream is but one of many like it floating amongst END TIMES believers about such things.

I think it would be wise, as suggested to PRAY AGAINST IT'S FULFILLMENT.

This came from one of our Renewedhope family and she sent Pat Kings article along also....Meri

In my dream last night I dreamed that John and I lived in a house that didn't look like the one we are living in but we came home one day and water was pouring out of the foundation. We got closer to the corner and John removed a few rocks and was looking into the foundation and the water was gushing out. As we were standing there my cell phone rang and I answered it and someone on the other end said that a nuclear Bomb just went off in Alaska. I had an instant picture of a railroad depot that had train cars blown all over the place. And the whole place was a shambles. Then I woke up. And when I woke up I realized that the things I had been praying about and stewing over were not the things that I needed to be praying about but to be interceding over what God showed me in the dream.

After I was up for a while I asked the Lord Why Alaska? And He told me the pipeline. That was it. Now I'm praying over more of how to be praying. When I woke up I had my arms in the air praying in tongues asking for a commissioning of angels to be send to surround Alaska for protection and to do warfare.

Patricia King and Steve Swanson: "2007--A YEAR OF DREAMS AND VISIONS POURED OUT ON ALL FLESH"

"Things are changing quickly, and the Lord is going to speak loudly through dreams and visions this year."

Everywhere I go, whether in the Church or out of the Church, people submit dreams to me and invite input and interpretation. God is definitely speaking through dreams and there seems to be an acceleration of profound and life-changing messages from God through them.

Steve and Lisa Swanson, Worship and Arts Directors for Extreme Prophetic, have written an inspired devotional this month on the subject of dreams and how God speaks in and through them. Get ready to have some!

PROPHETIC ENCOURAGEMENT

This is an exciting time we live in right now! 2007 is a Year of Vision and Dreams. The Lord is pouring out His Spirit on the earth in unprecedented measure, and signs and wonders abound! The day of the Lord is here, and as Jesus taught, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

In 2007, we are going to see an increase of prophetic dreams brought on by the Holy Spirit, and not only dreams, but also visions. These dreams will be "guidance" dreams to give God's people direction and discernment. There will be visions of the Kingdom poured out on a generation like never before. These dreams and visions will be very strategic in the coming months and will resonate through the Body. There will be dreams of inventions that will change the world. There will be dreams of prophetic intervention to avert potential dangers and catastrophic events.

We will see unsaved public figures receive significant dreams that will impact the world. After all, the Lord said He would pour out His Spirit on all flesh, and in that day, all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved! Some of these dreams will invoke reverent fear of the Lord in world leaders, and we will see them sovereignly come to Jesus. Things are changing quickly, and the Lord is going to speak loudly through dreams and visions this year.

A REVEALING LIFE-JOURNEY DREAM

"Many times, the Lord will give us a dream and then wait to see if we are going to trust Him and pursue it."

A few years ago, the Lord gave me a dream that turned my world upside down. In this dream, He showed me four houses and doors that I would go through. In the dream, as my wife and I were going camping, we turned the radio on and heard a report about a grizzly bear going around mauling people. The reporter stated that one would know when the bear was nearby because he would be preceded by a dog. As we got out of the car, we could hear the bear in the woods growling, so we went inside this cabin where we were going to stay. There were people from our Church in this cabin, and we felt relatively safe until I looked at the construction of the cabin. This cabin was made of balsa wood which is what they make toy airplanes out of.

I knew that this cabin wouldn't hold up against an attack, so we decided to leave. As we were leaving, I could see the dog out the window. We quickly left out the back door and as we left, the backyard turned into a bus stop; at this bus stop were three men in black trench coats telling me it was O.K. to go back--I didn't need to worry about the bear. They were saying this as they were getting on the bus. As I turned, I was face-to-face with the dog. I prepared myself to fight, and as I did, my right arm turned into a spiked ball and chain, and my left arm turned into a crossbow. However, as I looked at the dog, he seemed so pathetic and weak that I felt compassion and could not fight such a helpless animal.

We turned away and journeyed down the road a bit and saw a house made of glass. The glass was like one-way glass. This, I thought, would be great because the dog and bear would not be able to see us, so we went in and hid under a countertop. Sure enough, the dog passed by, but I began to think the glass would not hold up under an attack, so we left.

We continued our journey down the road a bit and found a large house with a castle door on it. The door was thick and had massive iron hinges on it. This, I thought, looks safe--there is no way the bear can get through this door. As I opened the door, I peered inside to find a smoky, dingy, Italian restaurant. This restaurant was complete with the ugly, puffy, 1962-styled burgundy table booths with the red and white checkerboard table cloths. This place didn't look at all on the inside like it did on the outside. We would be safe, but miserable. So I told my wife, "I know a place."

We journeyed down the road a bit and came to a marina with a beautiful promenade that circled it. We went about two blocks from the marina and saw a tower. The door to the tower was a revolving door with two guards protecting the entrance. This looks great--there is no way the bear can get through security, and even if he did, he wouldn't know how to get out of the revolving door. So we went in and came to an elevator and pressed the fourth floor button and ascended to the fourth floor. "This is great," I thought, "there is no way the bear will know how to work the elevator, we are safe at last." The Lord spoke the name of the place to me, and it was Arcadia. Arcadia means "peaceful, pastoral setting; comparable to Heaven."

Over the past six years, we have walked out this dream in the natural. We have been on a pilgrimage that has taken us across the country and back. God even had us living in a house that had one-way glass windows and glass mirrors on all the walls. He has such a sense of humor. I could go on, but the reason I'm telling you all this is because I want you to be encouraged. Many of you have dreams that you know are from God and are waiting to see them come true.

The main objective that I want to encourage you in is this--take the first step and initiate your dreams. Many times, the Lord will give us a dream and then wait to see if we are going to trust Him and pursue it. If my wife and I didn't move the first time, we would have never found "Arcadia" and never reached the fourth floor. As we took the first step, He was faithful to lead us in the rest. How did we know when to go? The grace had lifted in each place and we could feel in the Spirit it was time to move on.

I can feel right now as I write this, that someone is in a situation where the grace has lifted and you're hanging on when it's time to let go and move on. God is faithful and He gives us dreams for a reason. Look for increase of dreams in the coming year and keep a notepad and pen by your bedside because He's pouring out His Spirit like never before.

DEVOTIONAL TEACHING

In your devotional time, ask the Lord to impart His word and direction through dreams and visions. Dreams are all throughout the Bible. Many dreams and visions were prophetic and changed the outcome of history. Ask the Lord for discernment concerning a dream. Have someone you respect and trust help to interpret the dream for you. It's always good to have another accountable opinion concerning dreams and visions.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 states: "And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

Take hope, if your dream is from the Lord, it will come to pass. As I said before, there is to be some initiation on our part. If you have received a dream that you know is from the Lord recently, I encourage you to seek out the meaning and really pray into it.

Here are some verses that show some of the dreams and visions that happened in the Bible. Notice how some were directive, some were prophetic, and some were visionary. Have fun and pleasant dreams!

Genesis 28:12: Of Jacob, concerning the ladder.

Genesis 37:5-10: Of Joseph, concerning the sheaves. This prophetic dream showed Joseph what was to come. The Lord will also use dreams to help us endure the trials and tests before us.

1 Kings 3:3-15: Of Solomon, concerning his choice of wisdom.

Daniel 7: Of Daniel, concerning the four beasts.

Genesis 41:1-36: This dream was a warning from God to Pharaoh, and it also was a setup for Joseph to come into favor. No one could interpret the dream but Joseph.

Interpreted by Joseph: Genesis 40:12,13,18,19; 41:25-32

Daniel: 2:16-23, 28-30; Daniel 4: Daniel's dreams
