Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to that attack and a string of others during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a transcript released Wednesday by the Pentagon.

Mohammed claimed responsibility for planning, financing, and training others for bombings ranging from the 1993 attack at the World Trade Center to the attempt by would-be shoe bomber Richard Reid to blow up a trans-Atlantic flight with explosives hidden in his shoes.

In all, Mohammed said he was responsible for planning 29 individual attacks, including many that were never executed. The comments were included in a 26-page transcript released by the Pentagon, which also blacked out some of his remarks.

The Pentagon also released transcripts of the hearings of Abu Faraj al-Libi and Ramzi Binalshibh.

Binalshibh is suspected of helping Mohammed with the Sept. 11, 2001, attack plan and is also linked to a foiled plot to crash aircraft into London's Heathrow Airport. Al-Libi is a Libyan who reportedly masterminded two bombings 11 days apart in Pakistan in December 2003 that targeted President Pervez Musharraf for his support of the U.S.-led war on terror.

The hearings, which began last Friday, are being conducted in secret by the military as it tries to determine whether 14 alleged terrorist leaders should be declared "enemy combatants" who can be held indefinitely and prosecuted by military tribunals.

Hearings for six of the 14 have already been held. The military is not allowing reporters to attend the sessions and is limiting the information it provides about them, arguing that it wants to prevent sensitive information from being disclosed.

The 14 were moved in September from a secret CIA prison network to the prison at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, where about 385 men are being held on suspicion of links to al-Qaida or the Taliban.

The Yahoo article doesn't say squat about he confessed to. I wouldn't expect anything better. Let's have a contest to see which major paper buries this story the furthest.

Actually, they don't make me laugh, they make me sick.

They take something good and turn it upside down.

Sounds just like typical democrat propaganda noises that are made every day. Perhaps they would fell better if Gore or Kerry had made it.

They should feel whole again, should the Beast become THEIR leader.

The bomb maker, Yasin, came to the US on an Iraqi passport, bombed the World Trade Center, and fled to Baghdad, where he lived freely for 10 years.

15 of 19 September 11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. I hope Saudi's next on the list.

"If we had a real leader, he would have gotten congress on board"

Why would anyone have faith in Congress? He got Congress on board for the Iraq war, and now they deny they support it. Congress is completely useless - even more so, now that it's controlled by the Democrats. Difficult times require a strong Executive.

He must have not got his assigned copy of the Democrat play-book that reads "blame Bush for everything".

U.S. authorities in Iraq say they have new evidence that Saddam Hussein's regime gave money and housing to Abdul Rahman Yasin, a suspect in the World Trade Center bombing in 1993, according to U.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials. -- U.S.: Iraq sheltered suspect in '93 WTC attack (USA Today, 9/17/03)

According to documents discovered in Iraq after the war, Yasin fled to Baghdad shortly after the 1993 bombing and was given safe haven and financial support by the Iraqi government. -- Dick Cheney Was Right (Weekly Standard, 10/20/03)

Saddam, Clinton added, “has also given aid, comfort and sanctuary to terrorists, including al-Qaeda.” Clinton was correct. Saddam sprayed poison gas on his own people and sprayed cash on terrorists. After al-Qaeda’s 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, Saddam gave Iraqi Abdul Rahman Yasin a house and a stipend in Baghdad. Yasin built the bomb that rocked the Twin Towers, killing six and injuring 1,040. -- To give credit where it’s due - or unwanted (Boston Herald, 3/7/07)

In the spring of 1994, a Jordanian stringer working for ABC News spotted Abdul Rahman Yasin outside his father's house in Baghdad and learned from neighbors that he worked for the Iraqi government. After that news was broadcast, Iraqi authorities took Yasin and the other men in the house to an unknown location. His sixty-five-year-old mother, ill with cancer, was allowed to visit them, until she died in October 1994, in a hospital run by Iraqi security.13 As recently as May 1998, FBI director Louis Freeh affirmed that Yasin was in Iraq. -- Iraqi Complicity in the World Trade Center Bombing and Beyond (Laurie Mylroie, June 2001)
(note: Mylroie wrote this piece 4 months before the 9/11 attacks)

A reporter for ABC News spotted Yasin in Baghdad in 1994 and reported that he was operating freely. A neighbor told the reporter that Yasin was working for the Iraqi government. Documents recovered from Iraq indicate that Yasin not only received safe haven but also funding from Saddam Hussein’s regime. -- Abdul Rahman Yasin: MIPT Terrorism Knowledge Base

"I'm thinking the Saddam angle of the KSM story will come out separately"

A lot of people are going to have to insist that it come out in order for it to happen. Many people in Washington are engaged in CYA, and this is the last story the MSM would ever want to tackle.

You asked: Is there any reason he isn't pushing up daisies ?

I can think of a few:

1. We (The English speaking people) are civilized. (Maybe too civilized.)

2. Maybe he has more intelligence to give up.

3. If he is kept alive, it might encourage some high level defections.

"This is the guy Congressman Moran (Moron) wants to let out on bail and have stay in the United States."

Moran is a bad guy. Even the Washington Post doesn't like him.

Correct. He came with Yousef, who traveled on a valid Iraqi passport.

How did you know that much about Yasin, but not know he lived there after the bombing and received housing and a salary from Saddam?

To the tune of "Achy Breaky Heart" courtesy of Weird Al:

You can torture me with Donnie and Marie

You can play some Barry Manilow

Or you can play some schlock, like New Kids On The Block

Or any Village People song you know

Or play Vanilla Ice, hey, you can play him twice

And you can play the Bee Gees any day

But Mr. DJ, please, I'm beggin' on my knees

I just can't take no more of Billy Ray

You can clear the room by playin Debbie Boon

Or crank your Abba records until dawn

Oh, I can even hear Slim Whitman or Zamfir

Don't mind a Yoko Ono marathon

Or play some Tiffany on 8-track or CD

or scrape your fingernails across the board

Or tie me to a chair and kick me down the stairs

Just please don't play that stupid song no more

This is terrible news! Now the dems will push to have him elected to the Senate...and he's got adequate name recognition to pull it off in a blue state.
