Breaking a parliamentary roadblock, the Senate votes to begin debate on a resolution that calls for combat troops to leave Iraq by the end of March 2008.
CUT AND SURRENDER ALERT!!
It's really sad that these people don't have anything better to do. They are useless when it comes to running this country. All they want to do is get in front of the camera and spend our tax money.
put the "RUN & HIDE" dummies on the Record....
They did not break anything but we are used now to the delusions of the left wing media in reporting what they see in their wet dreams. The debate of this defeatist resolution is facing the biggest parliamentary challenge that will make it almost impossible to pass which is to get 11 Republicans to join 49 democrats for a cloture vote. Even if it overcomes the impossibility and pass, it will be vetoed by President Bush.
Why is Mitch doing this?
Meanwhile, it is just a chance for the libs to bellow and bloviate to impress the moveon.org denizens and kiss up to the anti-war crowd.
The only good part of this is that we will see clearly on record who is willing to accept defeat at the hands of the Jihadist
Look at the bright side.
Every day they spend "debating" pointless horsesh!t like this, is one less day they can devote to nationalising healthcare and bailing out the idiots who can't afford the Adjustible Rate Mortage on their McMansions.
All the Republicans are doing is letting the Rats yap about how they hate America and then they will pull the rug from under them. The only reason the Republicans are doing this is they feel confident about the results starting to emerge from Iraq and when all is said and done the Democrats will really look like losers to the ones fooled by them in the last election.
Because he believes it won't pass and will put pressure on the House to back off of their latest foolishness.
Congress cannot order the Armed Forces to do anything and they know it.
Another non-binding resolution?
Have the Democrats figured out what century they are in, yet?
This statement gives me a case of the giggles. Previously his complaint was the BS line that Republicans were refusing to debate a pullout, and now that McConnell agrees to the debate, Reid is whining it's not enough. Basically now, he doesn't want the debate because he knows it will fail in the end and will refuse to debate until he has the votes.
Personally, I think Mitch has performed brilliantly so far.
True, but that's also the bad part. The insurgents that are lying low right now because of the surge see this as light at the end of the tunnel. American resolve is cracking, and they can see it. They don't understand our political process, exactly, but they can sense we're starting to buckle under the strain.
That's all they need to see. As they see it, if they keep fighting, our divisions will continue to grow. This is exactly the sort of sign that gives hope to the insurgency, and keeps them from giving up. It also telegraphs to the average Iraqi that we're not going to be around for too much longer, and that they'd better plan for their futures without us.
