Some Muslim workers at Target refuse to handle pork

I'm a reporter who covers Target for the Star Tribune and the other day, I got a call from someone who said that an employee at the Target store downtown refused to run his bacon through a scanning machine. He was mighty upset, arguing that the cashier had "no right to work as a cashier at Target" if she wasn't prepared to swipe his groceries.

So, this guy should be fired for not performing his job, just like that catholic pharmacist, who refused to fill birth control pills, should be fired from his.

It doesn't actually answer the question, altho it might be of interest to anyone wondering about dogs and Islam. However, it also contains this interesting but disconcerting passage:

All of creation is Muslim, submitting to Allah’s will—only man and jinn are granted a freedom of choice. So yes, even animals are Muslim.

In the Holy Qur’aan (S4:36) we are advised to do good to “… what your right hands own …” According to the commentator Imaam Faghruddin al-Rhazi, this refers to all those who have no civil rights, including animals. Thus, the verse lays down the duty of being good toward animals.

Is this passage suggesting that some people have no civil rights?

Was she upfront with Target before they hired her telling them that she refuses to handle pork? If not then she should be fired immediately! This is getting totally out of hand with these people. Target being the leftists they are will probably cave in and make her the store manager.

The joke of this is there are dozens (hundreds?) of products with pork in them in any grocery store. So if this is really a problem for somebody, they are going to be spending a lot of time just figuring out what has pork and what doesn't.
