While a math undergrad, I studied nonlinear analysis under one of McKitrick's collaborators - the most hard-assed, no-nonsense professor I ever came across (which means something in math/physics). He did not suffer fools gladly, had ZERO patience for BS, and did not mince words. As an avowed leftist at the time, I hated his guts.

I only know some of these other characters in the context of their colloquia I was fortunate enough to attend, and from reading articles such as Geophysical Research Letters, Vol 32(3), Feb 12 2005, DOI:10.1029/2004GL021750, but can tell that they are not activists in any way. Nothing in tone or methodology about their research here differs from their less politically charged research.

Excellent article. I find it rather amusing that none of the anthropogenic causes of GW/CC stand up to genuine critical scrutiny.

As for those who are constantly trumpetting about our imminent demise, I refer to the Mediots as the "High Priests" of the "Church of the Perpetually Panicked".

We all know who the "Gore-acle" is.

EPA's Climate Change Site offers comprehensive information on the issue of climate change in a way that is accessible and meaningful to all parts of society – communities, individuals, business, states and localities, and governments.

Report Indicates Global Warming May Be Worse than We Think

Two new reports indicate that the global warming problem may be more widespread than heretofore thought. One report from National Geographic News asserts that temperatures on both Earth and Mars have been rising. Data from NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey mission in 2005 disclosed that the carbon dioxide "ice caps” near Mars’ south pole are shrinking.

The other report indicates that cosmic rays from exploded stars are decreasing. This is causing fewer clouds to form and allowing more sunlight to hit the planet, raising temperatures.

Former vice-president and internationally acclaimed climate expert, Al Gore, cited the reports as further evidence in support of drastic action aimed at cooling the planet. “It was bad enough when just the Earth was affected, but now it looks like the entire solar system may be in danger,” Gore proclaimed. “There is no time to lose. We must act before it is too late.”

Gore suggested that a “global climate czar” be appointed from among a list of persons nominated for both an Academy Award and Nobel Prize for work on climate change. “We need someone with the authority to brush aside the barriers to immediate action,” Gore said. “We can’t afford to allow a nostalgic reverence for archaic notions of property rights and individual freedom to be used to block the steps necessary to save the Earth. Everything and everyone must be strictly controlled if we want there to be a planet here for our grandchildren.”

I have seen a previous article discrediting the Mann report, but Card does an excellent of deconstructing Mann's alleged research.

It is astonishing to me that these shysters keep showing up. One falsified report on DDT has cost the lives of millions worldwide due to mosquitoes. Until we stop buying into the claims of these nutjobs who refuse to verify or justify their fraudulent claims, we will continue to be taken in by the "single report" whack jobs.

Card is owed a large "thanks" for a clearly written, concise article that solidly describes how Mann arrived at his "Hockey Stick" graph.

If one does a little research, one will find that all the "data" supporting a dramatic increase in CO2 emissions comes from a NOAA research station on the slopes of Mauna Loa on the Island of Hawaii.

If you do a little more research, you will see the station is a few miles away from an active volcano that has been steadily erupting for the past 23 years.

If you do a little more research, you will discover that the primary gas released in a volcanic eruption is CO2.
